  WHAT IS EVETEASING AND ADAM TEASING Eve teasing is harassment or molestation of women by men in general. In the same way we define Adam teasing as the molestation of men by women. This popular perception of harassment posits the phenomena as a joke where both men and women are both teased.

  Many college goingwomen and men have started taking precautions to ensure their safety 1. 1.Avoid certain public spaces. 2.Avoid going out alone after dark. 3.Avoid going out alone. 4.Avoid wearing certain clothes, which may seem provocative. 5.Carry items such as pepper spray/ safety pins etc. 6.Have started taking self defense classes and don’t hesitate to hit.

  Impact of eve/Adamteasing can be long lasting Eve/Adam teasing may sound obscene and harmless in its behavior but this act has sometimes resulted in rape and even death of victims . The death of a female student, Sarika Shah, in Chennai in 1998, caused by Eve-teasing, brought some tough laws to counter the problem in South India. After this case, there has been about half-a-dozen reports of suicide that have been attributed to pressures caused by eve teasing. In 2007, an Adam-teasing resulted in the death of Pearl Gupta, a college student in Delhi. In February 2009, female students from M.S. University (MSU) Vadodara thrashed four young men near the family and community sciences faculty, after they passed lewd comments on a girl student staying in SD Hall hostel.

  RA 7877: Anti-SexualHarassment Act Republic Act No. 7877, otherwise known as the Anti-teasing (sexual harassment) Act of 1995, is enacted primarily to protect and respect the dignity of workers, employees, and applicants for employment as well as students in educational institutions or training centers. This law, consisting of ten (10) sections, provides for a clear definition of work, education or training-related teasing and specifies the acts constituting teasing. It likewise provides for the duties and liabilities on person in case of teasing, and sets penalties for violations of its provisions. It is to be noted that a victim of teasing is not barred from filing a separate and independent action for damages and other relief aside from filing the charge for teasing.

  RESULTS The resultindicated that eve teasing was more prevalent than Adam teasing i.e. 33% as compared to 22%. 42% of young women faced verbal teasing, 39% of young women faced visual teasing, and surprisingly 59% of young women faced physical teasing. 20% of young men faced verbal teasing, 17% of young men faced verbal teasing, and only 6% of young men faced physical teasing. 46% of young women and men agree that Eve teasing and Adam teasing is higher outside the institutional area than the roadside, parks, cinema halls, market places, public transport, etc.

  The result includedthat Eve teasing is more prevalent as compare to Adam teasing and very few people were aware about the laws regarding Eve/Adam teasing and most of the young women and men believed that excess of Eve/Adam teasing can leave a long lasting impact on to the persons mind which can leave a permanent psychological mark and can even cause death of victims. Most of the young women and men feel that our government should take more strict actions and should keep watch dogs to check the same.
