  I’m sure youall have heard the story of Cinderella. You know the beautiful girl with the two mean step-sisters, and wicked mother. Well, you already know the ending, the beautiful girl marries the handsome prince, and they lived happily ever after. Well, that was the fairy tale, this is the real story.

  Cinderella lived withher two step-sisters. She was kind as well as beautiful. Her two step-sisters thought they were beautiful too. They were always looking in the mirror. The two step-sisters were very lazy. They wouldn’t wash the dishes. They wouldn’t sweep the floor. They wouldn’t do anything about the at all. Cinderella had to do it all.

  They asked Cinderellato do things for them all day long. “ Cinderella, comb my hair.” “ Cinderella sew on my button.” They never waited for her to finish what she was already doing. Cinderella never had a moment to do what she wanted to do. She was always too busy looking after the house and her step sister. at the end of each day she was so tired she would fall asleep beside the fire.

  Every morning Cinderellagot up early and made breakfast for her step-sisters . One bright morning, as her step-sister were eating breakfast, a letter arrived. “ Give it to me !”said the eldest sister, snatching it from Cinderella's hand. It was an invitation to a party and the king’s palace. Everyone knew the king’s son was looking for a wife .

  Everyone was invited.“ What shall I wear?” asked Cinderella .She only had the dress she was wearing. “ You are not going to the party," said her step-sisters. “ You will have to get us ready.” “ But the invitation is for us all," said Cinderella. “ Don’t be silly," said her stepsisters. “ The prince would not even look when he can dance with us.”

  On the dayof the party, the poor Cinderella did not know which way to turn. Both stepsisters wanted things done at the same time. “ Iron my dress!” “ Do my buttons first!” “ brush my hair first!” Neither of them said “Please" or “Thank you” once. And when they were ready to go they tossed their heads and went through the door without saying good bye.

  Cinderella was verytired. She was also very sad because she could not go to the party at the king’ palace. She sat beside the fire and wept. Suddenly a sweet voice said quietly, “Do not cry Cinderella. You shall go to the party .”Cinderella looked up. There ,standing beside her, was her fairy godmother.

  “ But howcan I go to the party?” said Cinderella. “This is the only dress I have.” “Don’t worry,” said the fairy godmother. She waved her magic wand. “ Now you are dressed for the party,” said the fairy godmother." How lovely! Thank you, said Cinderella. “How will I get there ?”

  The fairy godmotherwaved her magic wand again. She changed a pumpkin into a coach. She also changed six white mice into six white horses and two lizards into coachmen. You must be home by midnight , “said the fairy godmother." At the stroke of twelve, my magic spell will be broken and everything will be as it was before.”

  When Cinderella arrivedat the palace, everyone turned to look at her. The prince danced with her all night. He would look at no one else." Who is she?” “Where is she from?” The stepsisters did not know that the prince was dancing with Cinderella. They thought she was at home getting their supper ready.

  Cinderella was sohappy she forgot the fairy godmother’s Warning. she only remembered it as the clock began to strike midnight. “ I must go!" she said and ran from the palace. As she ran down the steps the clock struck twelve. suddenly everything had changed back to the way it was before the fairy godmother had cast her spell .all ,that is. Except one glass slipper.

  The prince lookedfor Cinderella everywhere. He could not find her. He saw the glass slipper.“I will marry the girl whose foot fits into the glass slipper," said the prince. “ it fits me !”cried one stepsister. But it didn’t. Her toes were bent double.

  It was Cinderella'sturn to wear the glass slipper. “ it won’t fit her !”said the stepsisters. but it did. The glass slipper fitted Cinderella perfectly. “ the prince won’t want to marry you” said the stepsisters. but he did. The prince and Cinderella lived happily ever after .and the two stepsisters had to learn to do everything for themselves.
