  • Characterisation isthe process by which the writer reveals the personality of the characters who will be in his film. The characterisation is shown in either direct or indirect characterisation. • Direct characterisation tells the audience what the personality of the main character is going to be like. For example, the patient boy and the quiet girl were both well mannered and did not disobey their mother. Through this the author directly tells us that the boy and the girl are quite and patient.

  • Indirect characterisationshows things that reveal the personality of a character they are five different methods of indirect characterisation. Speech • What does the character say? How does the character speak? • Thoughts • What is revealed through the character’s private thoughts and feelings? • Effect on others toward the character. • What is revealed through the character’s effect on other people? How do other characters feel or behave in reaction to the character? • Actions • What does the character do? How does the character behave? • Looks • What does the character look like? How does the character dress?

  • Michael –Michael is a 18 year old boy, who's ideals and attitude are different from the ordinary Caucasian boy as he has a different view of living life as he doesn’t believe that Asians should be segregated from the Caucasians for something that was committed by a minority. • Michael's dress sense is very simple and plain. The reason why Michael will dress this way is because I am trying to portray that he is simple and ordinary boy, he is no fancy rich guy who has high expenditure.

  • Zain –He is 18 year old Asian boy. He’s carefree and doesn’t care about anything but his family and friends. However even though he is segregated from his best friend after the 9/11 attacks he doesn’t change as a person. • To a extent I am trying to make Zain dress the same way in which Michael dresses the reason for this is because we will want to show that Zain is also the same as Michael and there is no different between them.

  • Beth isa caring and considerate girlfriend who stands by Michael however it becomes a problem for her once the 9/11 attacks take place this leads to her finishing her relationship with Michael. • She wears the clothes which match her personality but also the era and time around 2001

  • This characterturns up as our disruption as he believes that the attacks are caused because of people like Zain, so Michael has no right to Hang around with him. Causing conflict between Jack and Zain. • We decided to give Jack a look that would make him stand out and also believable, this is why we had gotten jack to shave his hair and also wear clothes that represent him the way want him.

  Douglas Rooks playsMichaels racist father, to an extent he is also a disruption for our main character Michael. As you can see I have portrayed Douglas very simple with trainers, hoody and jeans. I have done this as this is the type of stereotype that has been made for racists. This is why I have portrayed Douglas as a drunkard and racist man.
