You will be rewarded for originality, creative thinking and extra effort. RESEARCH 1 Brief State the task that you have been set and who you will be working with. 2 Analysis of Pop Videos 1 Focus on why this media product is a promotional video. How would you use it in music videos? 9 Theories 3 Discuss and illustrate Goodwin’s theory of music video editing. How would you use it in music videos? 10 Genre research 1 Produce and upload a mood board of the ‘image’ of your chosen genre. How do artists from this genre like to be represented? 11 Genre research 2 Analyse 3 music videos from your chosen genre. 12 Genre research 3 What are the conventions of a music video of the genre? 13 CD cover research Analyse 3 CD covers from your chosen genre. What are the conventions? 14 Record Label research Research 3 record labels from your genre. Research history, logo, artists, promotional material, location, year established, divisions and parent company. DO NOT COPY AND PASTE. 15 Advertisement research Analyse 3 music magazine adverts from your chosen genre. What are the conventions? 16 Audience Research 1 Create a questionnaire (at least 10 questions) and ask at least 20 people what they expect to see in a promotional package for an artist. Make sure you get details of their demographic. 17 Audience Research 2 Analyse your results. Create graphs/pie charts and upload to your blog. Analyse the results- how will the information inform your work? PLANNING 1 Initial Ideas Discuss initial thoughts. What starting points did you have- genre, song,

  artist, location? Areally good prop or costume? How did you work together to develop your ideas? What genre did you choose and why? 2 Roles Who is in your group and what will be their roles? 3 Song details What song have you chosen? Why? What genre is it? 4 Lyrics Annotation Annotate the lyrics- where can your ideas come from? Consider Goodwin. 5 Image Annotation How would you like your artist(s) to look? How will you represent them? 6 Concept What is the concept that you have decided on for the video? Include sketches – locations/costume/special effects/key shots. 7 Storyboards Upload your storyboards and discuss why you have created a storyboard. Explain why ideas have changed since the initial plan. 8 Lists of Props, Costumes, make-up and equipment. Upload these lists and discuss your choices. 9 Location shots Take photos of your ideas for locations (at least 5). Which ones will you use? Explain why. 10 Shooting Schedule Upload your shooting schedule. Explain what a shooting schedule is and why you have made one. 11 CD cover designs Upload all your draft CD cover designs. Discuss decisions made. 12 Advert designs Upload all your draft advert designs. Discuss decisions made. 13 Photo-shoot plan Upload your photo-shoot plan. Discuss your decisions. 14 Location permission letters Upload copies of letters/emails you have sent to get permission to use particular locations. Explain why you need these. 15 Talent release forms Upload the signed talent release forms and explain why you need these. 16 Track permission letter Upload the letter you sent for permission to use the track and explain why you need this.
