This document discusses trends in children and youth media usage around the world based on a review of existing sources and surveys. It finds that while opportunities have increased with globalization and technology, risks have as well. Television remains dominant but radio listening is also popular. While access to information has grown, content quality and influence are concerns, particularly regarding commercialization and lack of local relevance. The document advocates empowering youth while also protecting them, in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
