The document is a photo essay describing the lives of children living near a garbage dump in Oorakuppam, Besant Nagar, India. The children play around piles of garbage, often finding toys mixed in. They are surrounded by trash and exposed to diseases but the municipal trucks collecting garbage often forget to service their area. While taught cleanliness in school, the school itself is dirty. The children ask for a clean childhood without being surrounded by rubbish.

- 10. Our sand castleshave garbage in them – so do our lives
- 11. Playing “hide nseek” – but there is no hiding from the germs and diseases
- 12. And that’s hopand catch – hop around in drains, catch the flu!
- 13. We scourge aroundfor things to play with…
- 14. And sometimes spota teddy bear!
- 15. These are calleddustbins, we don’t know what they’re for..
- 16. And the corporationvehicle always forgets these ..
- 17. They ask usto be clean in school, but the school itself is not so…
