- 5. TYPES OF COMPUTER NETWORK Two basic types of computer network: 1. Local Area Network (LAN) 2. Wide Area Network (WAN)

LOCALAREA NETWORK (LAN) It is a computer network that usually covers a single room, a single building or close buildings like university residences, for this reason, they are privately owned for the purpose of sharing resources like printers, a servers and modem. It ranges from a small network that covers a distance of 10m in an office. At most it covers a radius of roughly a kilometre.
- 7. CONTINUATION Local Area Network can be wired or wireless. It is said to be wired when nodes are connected using cables and switches It is wireless if nodes are connected by wireless devices and communication is through radio waves, normally referred to as Wi-Fi

- 9. WIDE AREA NETWORK (WAN) Is a computer network that covers a ,large geographical area through a shared communication path. It can also be defined as group of Local Area Networks that communicate with each other. The most common example of WAN is the internet.
