personality , attitudes , habits & skills.
 ASSESSMENT:
 The process by which information
is obtained relative to the some
known objectives or goals.
 EVALUATION:
 It is an overall assessment which
based on decision making. It is a
judgment on an observation ,
performance , test or an any data
of the students.
PURPOSES OF ASSESSMENT:
WHY TEACHER ASSESS THE
STUDENTS?
 To check the strengths & weakness of the
students.
 To make learning more effective.
 To get the evidence of students learning.
 To know the difficulties faced by students.
 It can help that student take control of his/her
learning & make it more meaningful.
 To know the variations of learning.
 WHY TEACHER SHOULD NOT
ASSESS THE STUDENTS?
 Students only focus on the exams & does not focus
on real objectives.
 Cramming.
 superiority complex or inferiority complex.
 It is a stress for the students.
 Student feel burden.
 Students feels jealousy with each other.
 Assessment can be wrong.

 Formative Assessment / Summative Assessment.
 Observation based Assessment / performance based

& consistent.
 Content of the assessment should be
manageable for both students & teachers.
 Assessment should enhance the
motivation.
 There should be clear orientation of
assessment tool.
 The assessment tool should be of high
quality & instruction or items.
