Sketch of the unitWh- conditional Questions
Yes/ no- Conditional QuestionsThese are the topics the unit will cover… Obviously with their forms to answers and Examples.
Conditional QuestionsIt is very simple to make a question based on a conditional. You can give a condition and ask what would be the possible consequence.
Conditional QuestionsThe structure is very simple, but you have to know quite well about using the types of conditional sentences.
Conditional QuestionsLet’s take a look of the structureWhat (or another Wh word)If Clause* ?Aux Verb*Subj.Verb*(would, will, remember that it depends of the type of conditional that you are going to use)*The tense of the If clause that you use in the question will depend of the conditional type used. Hint: As well as conditional sentences structure can be reversed without changing the meaning, question can also be changed by starting with the if clause.
Conditional QuestionsHere are some examples:What will happen you don’t study hard enough?
Where would you like to travel, if you won paid vacations?
If you were an animal, Which one would you like to be?Conditional QuestionsThe way of answering is really easy; just start with the if clause of the question made, and create the consequence, let’s look at the examples to have a better idea of it.
Conditional QuestionsHere are some examples:What will happen you don’t study hard enough? If I don’t study hard enough I will fail in the examWhere would you like to travel, if you could go anywhere? If I could go anywhere I would like to travel to Hawaii If you were an animal, Which one would you like to be?If I were an animal I would like to be a Falcon.
Conditional QuestionsNow, this is the structure of aYes/Noconditional question.?Main ClauseIf ClauseHint: As well as conditional sentences structure can be reversed without changing the meaning, question can also be changed by starting with the if clause.
Conditional QuestionsHere are some examples:If I were blonde, Would I look good? Will Mary miss me if I go?If I cut a onion I cry?
Conditional QuestionsThe way to answer this question is very easy, all you have to do is deny or agree and to make it longer add the conditional sentence, or just the main clause.
