  IUBMB STANDARDS  Generaland detailed (according to thesis) professional knowledge (= understanding experimental productive methods rather than conclusions)  Ability to abstract from literature the useful information: reasoning, strategies, material and methods, models of evaluation, interpretation, areas of controversy, areas which require exploration.  Recognition of meaningful problems and questions for research  Choose from multiple pathways and to define attainable objectives, testable hypothesis with appropriate controls self-directed research acceptable by scientific community and develop models… (creativity and imagination )….  Laboratory skills wide enough to manage and develop according to needs but not become a technician. "interdisciplinarity is a characteristic of present-day research"  Oral, written, visual communication skills and ethical aspects of collaborative work (give value to the others) and honesty.
