Constellations Stars formed together to make a shape, person or any other figure Helps divide the sky into bits Makes it easier to find stars and planets
Constellations Total of eighty-eight constellations Greeks named and recognized 48 of the known constellations; Tolomeo a Greek mathematician and astronomer described 48 of them
Constellation: Names Named according to what they looked like in the sky Names were translated into Latin Latin was called the language of learning Names given by the Greeks and Egyptians
Constellation: Meanings Each constellation refers to mythological and/or legendary men, women and animals Were also seen by Arabs, Egyptians, and Babylonians Meanings related with historical-like times, people, figures, etc. 1928 International Astronomy Union solidified boundaries for all 88 constellations
