WE ARE THE STUDENTS OF 6th semester, would like to pay we sincere
gratitude towards our course director adv. Mohiuddin, for arranging our
visit to District Court Chittagong for the purpose of understanding the
courts environment, courts structure and professional status.
we also thankful to our honorable lawyer, and our
companion ,of Chittagong District Court, to make us understand the
Role of Court and the role of Public Prosecutor and the Defense Lawyer
in a much Practical Way.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Purposeof Visit
The purpose of the visit was to understand the working of a
court, the nature of duties of the judicial officers. The visit was
to help us understand the role of court in dispensing justice in
any case, the role of prosecutors in a case, the way cases proceed
in a court, the way judges, prosecutors and defense lawyers
handle the case, the relationship of the prosecutors and the
police. This gave us an opportunity to understand the actual
need of co- ordination in the four pillars of the criminal justice
system.
The visit included an in-depth study of the day to day
functioning of the criminal courts, at different levels and over a
vast variety of cases. The aim was to evaluate the resources
available and the distribution of power between the judges, the
prosecution, and the defense council.

Court - A court is an institution that the
government sets up to settle disputes through a
legal process. People come to court to resolve
their disagreements.
According to section 3 of The Evidence Act,1872
court includes all judges and magistrate and all
persons except arbitrators, legally authorised to
take evidence.
Chittagong Court Structure
The Building of Chittagong Courts Complex completed in 23 March1893.
This is the most modern operational District Courts building in Chittagong.

Structure of the court room
The Court room is a hall consisting of a raised pavilion which has a podium for
the Honorable Judge with his Reader and Steno sitting on either side on the
same podium.
On a pavilion comparatively lower to that of the Judge their is a witness and an
accused box but as informed is not being used. In between the two boxes the
typist sits who types all the statements made by the witnesses.
The prosecutor and the defense counsel stands on the bench near the typist.
Between the two counsels stands the witness and the accused stands beside the
accused box.
There is a Naib court helping the prosecutor standing just beside him.
The public attending the trial have seats provided behind the bench where the
two counsels stand.
There are cupboards in the court room to keep all the case files being tried in the
court. Even the case properties and other registers maintained in the court by the
different judicial officers.

I am advocate Md. Mojibul Hoque Chairman of bar of Chittagong court and I
have completed pass course from CU.

Sir, please tell us about the bar association.
President:
Well, the age of Chittagong bar 122 years
1. This bar had run its activities from 15th march 1893, with 17 member.
2. Amount of advocate 4162
3 board of directors members 19
4 .has 3 buildings and two are under construction.

about this profession.
President:
It is a challenging profession for leading your life in this way has to straggle, also a noble profession so has to follow
honest side for establishing justice as a human being. Beside it is so much important that senior and junior members has
to work together in such profession, juniors must honor the senior and also has to respect the judges and magistrate.
Provided that ,it also so much important to set up your mind to help the poor people for fulfilling responsibility and also
for establishing justice if you want to be a good lawyer must know the laws and has hard work every day because of

My name is Anamul Hoque, I has completed SSC & HSC exam in 1973 & 1975
then completed honors, & masters (1982) from Chittagong university.
After then completed pass course (1987) Joined Chittagong court and till now
continuing this profession
Group: Thanks sir, give us some advice how may we improve our profession as a student of
law?
Sir: law and lawyers are interrelated to each other’s law profession is so much important for
those who know law.
A lawyer have to face many challenge and problem in first three years at the time of
practice It is a challenging profession.
(a) For shining in this profession has to do study.
(b) In a case examination in chief, cross-examination is so
much important. You must ask relevant question in such examination.
(a) If any person continues 4/5 years in this profession then money is available.
(b) A lawyer is a social engineer .A lawyer has to gather huge knowledge from different
aspect.
(c) Practical profession has some different from book.
(a) For taking knowledge attaining in the seminar is mandatory.
