GENERAL INFORMATION
 On 31 december 2019, the world health organization
(WHO) was formally notified about a cluster of cases
of pneumonia in WUHAN CITY.
 Ten days later, who was of 280 confirmed causes of
which four were in JAPAN , SOUTH KOREA &
THAILAND.
 The virus responsible was isolated on 7th jan and its
genome shared on 21st jan.
 5th january 59 cases were known & none had been
fatal.
 INDIA, on THURSDAY , reported its first positive
case of (nCOV) from KERELA with a student, who
was studying in wuhan university and had travelled to
india.
 The case was confirmed to the government by the NIV
(National Institute of Virology),PUNE INDIA.
HISTORY OF COVID-19
 THE CAUSE OF THE SEVERE ACUTE RESPIRATORY
SYNDROME THAT BECOME KNOWN AS COVID-19
WAS A NOVEL CORONAVIRUS , SARS-COV-2.
 This virus was responsible for SARS-COV-2 , A flu-like
illness , through diarrhea was common.
 It could progress to pneumonia & respiratory failure in
two weeks and 25% of people infected reqired
intensive care.
 Phylogenetic analysis suggest that SARS-COV-2
originated in animals , probably BATS & was crossing
into humans at the human wet market in wuhan city.
STRUCTURE OF COVID-19
 SARS-COV-2 particles are spherical and have
proteins called “SPIKE” protruding from their surface.
 This spikes latch onto human cells them undergo a
structural change that allows the viral membrane to
fuse with the cell membrane.
 Viral genes can enter the host cell to be copid,
producing more viruses.
 SARS-COV-2 spikes bind to receptors on the human
cell surface called Angiotensin Converting Enzyme
2 (ACE2).
 The ICMR scientist used what is known as
transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to image
the SARAS-COV-2.
COVID-19 IN HUMAN
HOW DOES CORONA VIRUS ATTCK YOUR BODY?
 A virus infects your body by entering healthy cells.
 There, the invader makes copies of itself & multiplies
throughout your body.
 New virus latches its spiky surface protenis to
receptors on healthy cells , especially those in your
lungs.
 They hijack healthy cells and takes command.
 It kill some of the healthy cells.
HOW DOES VIRUS MOVE THROUGH YOUR BODY?
Virus shown in surface or air when ,
we touch surface or contact in air
The virus move down your respiratory and
cause infection in respiratory system.
They cause infection in lungs & carry less oxygen to
Your blood & cause your kidney, lungs & other organs.
SYMPTOMS AFTER ENTERING THE BODY:-
 Within 2-14 days your immune system may respond
with symptoms includding:
 Fever
 Acough
 Shortness of breath or trouble breathing
 Body aches , headache
 Congestion or a runny nose
 Loss of taste , loss of smell
 Diarrhea , nausea or vommiting
 Chils , sometimes with shaking
 IMAGE OF CORONA VIRUS INFECTED LUNGS
 HOW DOES SANITIZER INHIBIT THE ACTIVITY
OF VIRUSES?
 The novel coronavirus has a lipid envelope.
 The virus is inactive outside the body or cell when it
enter the cell or body it becomes active.
 When we use a sentizer it should ideally have an
alcohol content of 60% or more.
 So , alcohol based handsantizer directly deslove
lipid portion which is present inside the cell
membrane of the virus and cell will break.
COVID-19 IN ANIMALS
 The cats, dogs and a few other types of animals can be
infected but we don’t yet know all animals that can get
infected.
 A small number of pets cats & dogs have been infected
with virus in several countries, including the UNITED
STATES .
 Several lions and tigers at a NEW YORK was infected
but all have fully recoverd.
 THIS VIRUS SPREAD IN ANIMALS BUT MAY NOT
HARM THEM DUE TO THEIR MOLECULAR
IMMUNITY OR VIRUS MAY PLAY A PROPHAGE IN
THEIR BODY.
INFORMATION ABOUT PPE KIT
 CDC recommendation for use of Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) when caring for patients with
confirmed or suspected covid-19 desease.
 PPE KIT has proved itself as a great shield against the
transmission of bacteria,viruses.
PURPOSE OF PPE KIT:-
Covering the body from head to toe is to reduce
the exposure to the viruses , bacteria & toxic agents.
 PPE KIT CONTAINS INCLUDING:-
1. Overall & shoes cover
2. Gloves
3. 3 ply face mask
4. PVC eye mask
5. Disposable bag
6. Surgical gloves
TEST METHODS AND RESULTS
 Different types of COVID-19 test can be detect the
presence of the SARS-COV-2 virus or the body’s
response to infection.
 The probability of a positive result varies with each test
before and after symptoms appear.
Test procedure:-
Collect the sample from nose
with a swab.
Send the sample in lab for
genetic material separation
from sample.
Material is mixed with
substance & cause reaction.
If covid-19 present, substance
will copies unique part of virus
Genetic blueprint.
All copies will show up as a spike
on a machinethat cofirms
the present of covid-19.
REMEMBER THIS STEPS:-
1. WASH YOUR HAND WITH SOAP & WATER FOR
AT LEAST 20 SECONDS
2. AVOID CONTACT WITH SICK PEOPLE
3. KEEP DISTANCE
4. COVER YOUR FACE WITH MASK
5. DO SANTIZE FREQUENTLY TOUCHED SURFACE
THANK YOU
STAY SAFE!
STAY HEALTHY!
