Analysis of projects
Each slide should be 75-100 words long
Which specific production tasks have you
enjoyed most this year?
• My Favourite production task was definitely the photography during the making of the
poster and magazine front cover. During taking photos for my magazine and poster and
was struggling to get the focus on the camera so my first few images were blurry and
out of focus. Then one of my teachers (Josh) came in and showed me how to get focus
and get a better image. Then my next few looked really good, and I was very pleased
with how they looked. Then later on I went taking photos with 2 of my friends all day
and I took all the photos and it felt amazing. It's also something I think I might
like to do in the future because I enjoyed it so much.
• I also enjoyed the editing side of the projects including video, audio and animation.
I've always been interested in editing, but I've never been able to do it properly as
I don’t have the software for it. So, I've enjoyed having access to premiere pro and
being able to edit using it. It was fun to use the different transitions and effects
on premiere pro as it was something different from what I've done before.
What challenges have you faced this
year in your practical work?
• The most challenging project this year was definitely the audio project. This was
because my original idea didn’t work the way I wanted it to. I was going to use
foley to make lots of different sound effects to try and create a haunted house
story. However the foley tricks I used didn’t work and didn’t sound the way I
wanted it to. I only discovered this after I put them into premiere which was
very inconvenient. I had to respond to this by doing a different idea. In the end
I went into the woods with my friend and recorded edited and completed my audio
project. Another problem tat I had is I cant hear very well out of my left ear so
during editing I struggled to hear all the distant sounds which normally play in
the left side of headphones. I didn’t still complete it however but it was just
another slight problem that I had t deal with.
Which process do you think you have
made the most development in?
• I think the process that I've developed in the most is planning. I felt that at
some points during the start projects my planning wasn’t as strong as it could
have been. This is because when I went filming for my music video I didn’t really
plan where I was going to film and plan to get proper equipment. So, I ended up
just wondering around college with my friend filming on his iPhone 6 which wasn’t
very good. I feel that from the audio project and upwards my planning improved. I
think this was most evident in the audio project. I had to record my audio
outside of college, so I planned when I was going to meet with 3 of my friends to
record and planned exactly where we were going. I also booked an audio recorder
so that I was prepared. I was a lot happier with my planning as I knew exactly
what I was doing.
Which technical skill do you think is you
strongest?
• I think at the end of this year my strongest technical skill is using cameras
mainly photography. At the start of the course, I didn’t fully know how to use a
proper camera besides my phone. But I feel now with all of the projects combined
I have learnt and improved well and now is one of my strong skills. An example of
my showing this skill was during the adventure project when I took pictures for
the front of my magazine and poster. I went into the studio for today and took
photos of my friend. During this I had forgotten some things about the camera and
was struggling to focus the camera as it was dark in the studio. One of my tutors
came in and showed me how to use auto focus so it's easier to focus the camera
when its darker. And from this I got some strong photos. I can see the
improvement from my camera work at the start of the year compared to now.
What do you think has been your best
project and why?
• I think that my best project was the games animation. This is because it was the
one project that little to nothing went wrong. My music video was bad quality and
was poorly planned and my audio project was rushed as I ran out of time due to
having to rerecord the audio 3 times. However, my game project all went well, and
I also didn’t know how to make the animation in photoshop, so I learnt something
new, and I was happy with the outcome.
Which project did you enjoy least and
why?
• The project that I enjoyed least was definitely the audio project. Although I
said the research and planning had improved from the last project during this
one, I still didn’t enjoy this project as much. This was because I found the
research and planning a boring process. During the music video project, we got to
watch and look into existing music videos and was a very fun and visual task.
However during the audio project, we had to listen to really long existing audio
soundscapes and then write a review on them and I found it very long and boring.
The production side of it was also not as fun and interesting as the other
projects and took a long time and I didn’t get much out of it and wasn’t very
happy with it.
How have you managed your time
effectively this year?
• Time management is an area where I need to improve. I misjudged how much time I
had for many of my assignments, and as a result, I had to rush during the last
week due to a lack of time.
• Next time, I'll make sure I have a clear and distinct plan for what I'm doing and
when, and that everything is scheduled.
• It was strong in terms of resources and equipment. I always had all I needed, and
nothing was ever missing. I made a quick recce checklist before going out to film
for the music video project, and I didn't leave my house until I had all of it. I
did this for whenever I needed to remember to go out with something.
Action Plan
Each slide should be a minimum of 100
words in length
What roles/specialism do you see
yourself working in on future projects?
• I think that the role I see myself doing in the FMP and future projects in year 2
is photography. This is because I feel that It is my strongest skill at the
moment as a result of recent projects e.g., adventure project. It is also the
role that I enjoy the most as I find it very interesting, and I felt that I had a
bit of a hidden talent for it during other projects. It also looks to me like
something I would like to do in the future in terms of university and or job. I
also do some photography outside of college just for fun when I out with
friends.
What do you see yourself doing at the
end of the course next year?
• I am still not 100% what I want to do at the end of college but I with definitely
look into university. I honestly though feel that It depends on what I decide to
do because I think that there are things you need to go to uni for and some
things you don’t. I also think that I will look into some apprentiship or work
experience. My Uncles partner has contacts with the company who do the filming
photography and VFX for the new doctor who so I might go there and have a loom
around for some work experience with that as I think that would benefit me with
deciding what to do.
What research do you need to do in order to
explore your future progression options?
• I need to look at a variety of university courses to see which ones I like the
look of most. This will help me I deciding what I want to do and if I want to go
to uni as I cans see what It offers. I should also look into some work experience
like where my uncle's partner has contacts with as It will give me a look behind
the scenes in the big industries and will give me an idea about what it's like in
a job like that. I have already looked a little bit into uni but not sure how I
feel about it yet.

Editor's Notes

  • #4 Consider 2-3 specific practical parts of your work this year [e.g. filming or editing, etc] and discuss why these have been your favoured parts of the course so far
  • #5  Think about the work that has been most challenging this year [try and be specific when talking about tasks] and how you responded to it?
  • #6 A process would be research or planning or time management, it could be a combination. Talk about what it is, how you feel you’ve developed and where this was most evident in the year
  • #7 This is a technical skill like filming, editing, photo manipulation, designing adverts or using Photoshop – think of an example that shows your strength
  • #12 This is looking at how you see yourself specialising as we move into the FMP and into Year 2
