The projects involved camera surveys of storm and sanitary sewer lines to investigate leaks, subsurface drilling inside and outside of buildings for soil and groundwater sample collection, monitoring well installation and sampling, and excavation of contaminated soil. The project involved drilling 23, 24-inch diameter boreholes to remove trench backfill and filling the boreholes with a 50/50 mix of zero-valent iron and sand. System consists of 21 treatment sheds, 56 extraction wells, 76 injection wells, and 214 piezometers. Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence, Zone D Groundwater RI/FS, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Cheyenne, WY: Managed program to drill and install 37 monitoring wells to delineate the nature and extent of four trichloroethylene plumes. Primary author for the Zone D Groundwater Remedial Investigation Report. Imperial Oil, Kearl Oil Sands Project, Alberta, Canada: Supervisor and Senior Field Data Logger for the collection of subsurface geotechnical data used for the design of facility infrastructure. Activities included quality control review of all samples and borehole logs, and adherence to strict protocols for safety, borehole logging, sample packaging, and transport of core and samples. ASARCO, Inc. and Blue Tee Corp., Newton County EE/CA, Diamond and Granby, MO: Managed Removal Site Evaluation and Engineering Evaluation/Cost Analysis at two mining subdistricts in the Tri-state Mining District. Investigations were conducted to evaluate potential mining related impacts to soil and domestic well water and, if impacts were defined, to propose alternatives to mitigate the impacts. PRP Group (Several Mining Companies), Jasper County RI, Jasper County, MO: Managed solids sampling program for a RI/FS in the Tri- State Mining District to characterize the nature and extent of contamination of seven unique mining related wastes in a 30 square mile area. Activities included interpretation of aerial photographs to delineate strata, development of a Sampling and Analysis Plan and Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP), and collection and evaluation of data for more than 800 samples. Other project activities included collecting and evaluating surface water and domestic well water data. Viacom International, Inc., Eagle Mine, Minturn, CO: Managed soils investigation at a park adjacent to an abandoned mine to delineate the extent of contamination for final remediation efforts. Other project activities included collecting and evaluating waste rock, surface water, and groundwater data to assess potential mining-related impacts, and preparation of Viacom’s portion of the Five-Year Review Report. Video Accessory Corporation, VAC-Erie, Erie, CO: Managed subsidence investigation at an abandoned coal mine to evaluate the subsidence potential for the undermined portion of the property and render an opinion on the feasibility of future building.

Activities included abandoning 12 groundwater monitoring wells in accordance with State of Colorado regulations, report preparation, and completion of the Well Abandonment Reports required by the State Engineer’s Office. U.S. Army, RMA CFS Well Closure, Commerce City, CO: Managed well abandonment program at Rocky Mountain Arsenal. Activities included developing a Work Plan and Construction Quality Control Plan, and abandoning 51 confined flow system wells in accordance with State of Colorado regulations. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Geophysical Investigation, Pueblo, CO: Managed a non-intrusive geophysical investigation at an army base in the western U.S. to determine the potential locations of mustard gas burial sites. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Springs In-situ Oil Shale Retort Site, Rock Springs, WY: Managed program at an in-situ oil shale retort site to evaluate the nature and extent of potential groundwater contamination associated with oil shale retorting. Confidential Client, Harbortown Development, Detroit, MI: Conducted a soils investigation in a secured townhouse and condominium community to assess potential impacts to soils from historic industrial activities. ASARCO, Inc., Sinton, TX: Conducted soil, indoor dust, and domestic well water investigations in a neighborhood adjacent to a landfill to evaluate potential windblown contaminants and groundwater impacts. Installed a Vindicator access control system (ACS) in selected rooms in Buildings 429 and 430 located in the restricted area. Security Forces Squadron, Security System Upgrade, Buckley Air Force Base, CO: Managed installation of a Vindicator ACS in sensitive compartmented information facilities in Buildings 1030, 430, and 442 and in radomes 444 and 445 in accordance with Air Force Instruction 31-101 and Intelligence Community Standard 705. Security Forces Squadron, Building 430 Raised Floor IDS, Buckley Air Force Base, CO: Managed installation of an IDS under the floor of non-secure areas in building 430 so classified lines could traverse the area. The project involved installation of over 50 passive infrared sensors. Security Forces Squadron, Gate Cameras, Buckley Air Force Base, CO: Managed replacement of six Pelco pan, tilt, zoom cameras at the installation Entry Control Points for the Telluride Gate, Sixth Avenue Gate, and Mississippi Gate, and installed remote monitoring units at the 460th SW Command Post (Building 1030) and the Emergency Management Facility in Building 1005. Directorate of Emergency Services, Installation of Commercial IDS, Fort Leavenworth, Leavenworth, KS: Managed replacement/upgrading of approximately 50 IDSs in 47 buildings at Ft. Leavenworth. The project included the replacement of the main control equipment and keypads, installation of four new systems, and adding wireless mesh radio systems at 11 buildings. The systems consisted of commercial off-the-shelf equipment and included control panels, remote keypads, expansion modules, detection devices, power supplies, and batteries.
