Deforestation
There are several types and causes of deforestation including intentional clearing for agriculture like soy and palm oil plantations, unintentional clearing from activities like firewood collection, and natural clearing. Deforestation has advantages for industries and profit but disadvantages like destruction of habitats that can cause species loss and affect cultures and poorer countries. The rainforests, especially in Brazil and Indonesia, are heavily impacted by clearing for palm oil and soy resulting in large areas of forest loss each year and increased fires that endanger animals and disrupt ecosystems.
