To get to the pier you can either walk or drive a car there. Since I don t live in the city, I had to drive. Once there, I approached a big black gate that was wide open with the name of the pier on it. Walking from the busy street behind me, I wandered into a tree covered garden with two possible paths to pick from. I chose the one on the left. Reflection About Math Math is the language of the universe. It is used in every subject and understand it is absolutely imperative. As highschool comes to an end and college is about to start, math is one of those subjects that can be a pain in the butt to remind yourself how to do some topics. This project has helped me understand the type of math I will be exposed to on the placement testand what type of questions to expect. I chose to complete the Maryland placement test as I have some interest to attend. It has also exposed me to the college lifestyle a little and got me insight of application and what courses are required. I have concluded that these tests were a useful tool to measure my math skills on the colgate level. These tests were surprising in some aspects and in others very predictable. For one, I expected them to be much longer and more thorough. I expected their to be open ended questions and less multiple choice. I was surprised by the simplicity of some questions, but on contrasty, other questions were more challenging than what I was anticipating. I was also surprised at the lack of variety in questions. Much of the questions were the same format just with different number. But for the most part, I was not too caught off guard by any of the questions, as I had learned them all in my 4 year years at JCHS. The only things that I must address is reminding myself on some of the older material that I learned in my freshman and junior years here. The test was easier than I expected, although it was not easy. I expected the test to be very complicated and to include difficult questions. Instead, it had simpler questions but were still a challenge. For example, the concept of a problem could be fairly easy, but the numbers are hard to work with or had fractions in them. On this test, calculators were permitted and were a huge help to me. This tells myself that I need to get better at mental math to save time on tests and to not rely on calculators so much. Mental math has always been difficult for me, but mastering it can be greatly beneficial to my math. The test can be taken online or in person, it is really up to the person. Rhetorical Analysis Of I Have A Dream Speech Back in the 60 s there was only a few people who openly fought for their rights. They all had different ways with different tones and points, but one man stuck out most. That man was colored, and his tone could range from inspiring to provoking. Once he passed, the world was shocked. His name Martin Luther King Jr. and he changed America. When he passed, another great man felt that peace needed to be kept in a hard time like this. So, when giving a speech for his campaign, in the heart of the ghetto, (a white man) he announced the death and by staying calm he keep the peace present. This man was Robert Kennedy who was later assassinated. Those two men show how inspiring words really are. Words can mean a lot or a little just by how you use them. MLK and RFK used Logos, Pathos, and Ethos. They got calmness, inspiration, and provoked emotions into their audiences minds. In Martin Luther King s I Have a Dream speech, he uses a lot of Pathos to inspire his people. He wanted his listeners to help him fight for freedom. He starts of by saying, But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. Which means they must fight for their freedom no matter how bad they are treated. This connects to his inspirational message because he is talking about how they should still keep their spirits up even tho they are in a bad spot. He later says, I say to you today, my friends, though, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream all because the fact that people had their heads down at the time still should have hope that they will prevail. His inspiration wasn t the only this he was known for, but it was one of the reasons his work payed so well. King also was quite good with provoking change. He used his logic in The Letter from Birmingham Jail to show the 8 clergymen reading his work that he meant business. He started off the letter by saying, We have waited for more than 340 for our God given and constitutional rights which is stated because the fact that blacks haven t been treated fairly for 340 years and he refuses to see that number rise.     Reflection About Math Mathis the language of the universe. It is used in every subject and understand it is absolutely imperative. As highschool comes to an end and college is about to start, math is one of those subjects that can be a pain in the butt to remind yourself how to do some topics. This project has helped me understand the type of math I will be exposed to on the placement testand what type of questions to expect. I chose to complete the Maryland placement test as I have some interest to attend. It has also exposed me to the college lifestyle a little and got me insight of application and what courses are required. I have concluded that these tests were a useful tool to measure my math skills on the colgate level. These tests were surprising in some aspects and in others very predictable. For one, I expected them to be much longer and more thorough. I expected their to be open ended questions and less multiple choice. I was surprised by the simplicity of some questions, but on contrasty, other questions were more challenging than what I was anticipating. I was also surprised at the lack of variety in questions. Much of the questions were the same format just with different number. But for the most part, I was not too caught off guard by any of the questions, as I had learned them all in my 4 year years at JCHS. The only things that I must address is reminding myself on some of the older material that I learned in my freshman and junior years here. The test was easier than I expected, although it was not easy. I expected the test to be very complicated and to include difficult questions. Instead, it had simpler questions but were still a challenge. For example, the concept of a problem could be fairly easy, but the numbers are hard to work with or had fractions in them. On this test, calculators were permitted and were a huge help to me. This tells myself that I need to get better at mental math to save time on tests and to not rely on calculators so much. Mental math has always been difficult for me, but mastering it can be greatly beneficial to my math. The test can be taken online or in person, it is really up to the person.
