What is Digital Footprint?
 A ‘Digital Footprint’ is the data that a person
leaves behind when they use internet or digital
devices.
 It can include information like Browsing history,
Social media posts, and Emails.
 It can also be called a digital shadow or
electronic footprint.
Examples of digital footprint.
Types of Digital Footprint.

ACTIVE FOOTPRINTS
 An active digital footprint is information
that a user intentionally shares online.
 This includes posts on social media, online
reviews, and articles.
 Examples of Active Digital footprints are:
Social media, Blogging, Online reviews,etc.

Adding an account is an example of Active Footprints.
PASSIVE DIGITAL FOOTPRINTS.
 A passive digital footprint is information about you that's
collected online without your knowledge.
 It's made up of data that's stored in online databases, such as
your browsing history or IP address.
 It creates an invisible record of their online behavior without
any deliberate action on their part.
EXAMPLE OF PASSIVE DIGITAL
FOOTPRINTS.
ANONYMOUS DIGITAL FOOTPRINTS.
 The term Anonymous is a person whose name is not
made public.
 An anonymous digital footprint is data left behind by
someone who is trying to be anonymous online.
 This can include leaving comments on videos using a
fake profile, or watching videos without liking or
commenting.
EXAMPLE OF ANONYMOUS DIGITAL
FOOTPRINT.
SENSOR DATA FOOTPRINTS
 A sensor data footprint is the data collected by devices that
use sensors, often without direct user input.
 This data can come from wearable technology, smart home
systems, and IoT (Internet of Things) devices
 This can include things like your Phone, location through
GPS,etc.
EXAMPLE OF SENSOR DATA

SOCIAL NETWORK FOOTPRINTS
 A social network footprint is the digital trail of
an individual's online activity on social media
platforms.
 It includes posts, comments, likes, shares, and
other interactions.
 Every post, photo, video, comment, like, and
even who you follow on social media contributes
to your digital footprint.
EXAMPLE OF SOCIAL NETWORK

FINANCIAL FOOTPRINTS
 A financial footprint is a record of all your financial
activities, including spending, borrowing, and investing.
 It's a reflection of your financial health and identity.
 It's used by lenders and other financial institutions to
assess risk.
EXAMPLE OF FINANCIAL FOOTPRINTS.
 A digital footprint can have negative consequences for your privacy,
reputation, and legal standing.
 It can also impact your social life and job prospects.
 Some Negative consequences of Digital footprints are:
 Identity theft: Scammers can use your digital footprint to steal your identity
and hack your accounts.
