John Carpenter
 John Howard Carpenter (born January 16, 1948) is an American film director.
 Although Carpenter has worked in numerous film genres, he is most commonly
associated with horror.
 Notable exceptions of Halloween (1978), Escape from New York (1981) and
Starman (1984).
 On October 10, 2010, Carpenter received the lifetime award from the Freak
Show Horror Film Festival.
The Ward
 The film The Ward was Carpenters first film since 2001.
 It was released in 2011.
 This film featured a psychological sense as well as a horror theme. I feel this film
had a great influence on creating my own film because It has given me the idea
to base my film about visions and mental health. The Ward consists of a woman
who had been entered into a psychiatric facility, and she believes that a dead
patient who used to stay there, is haunting her. When in reality, the character
has many split personalities due to a traumatic experience in her past.
 I felt this film could be used as an influence because I like the way the ending
has a twist to it. Something the audience wouldn't’t have guessed and therefore
can come under a psychological thriller as it plays a trick on the audience.
