 Predictions for expected numbers of Innovations in the next 30
years would be more than all innovations made in the past 300
years!
 The Bad news - You will be leaving in very Dynamic and
Competitive environment!
 The Good News - There will be huge demand for innovators and
programmers to implement and bring all ideas to real world!
 The Very Good News – TNI (Technologies Need Integration), so
Integration will be every second word – it is “must” term and
will bring us Huge business potential!
 So, take a look carefully next slides please… and talk about
Innovations
Top 50 Inventions of the Past 50 Years
 1955—TV REMOTE CONTROL
 The first wireless remote, designed by Zenith's
Eugene Polley, is essentially a flashlight. When
Zenith discovers that direct sunlight also can
change channels on the remote-receptive TVs,
the company comes out with a model that uses
ultrasound (sound – waives generated
mechanically); The industry then switches to
infrared (light).
 Integration Case: each different TV set needs
integration  to connect to Zenith's remote
control!
Top 50 Inventions of the Past 50 Years
 1955—MICROWAVE OVEN (magnetic vibration)
 In 1945 Raytheon's Percy Spencer stands in front of a
magnetron (the power tube of radar) and feels a
candy bar start to melt in his pocket: He is intrigued.
When he places popcorn kernels in front of the
magnetron, the kernels explode all over the lab. Ten
years later Spencer patents a "radar range" that
cooks with high-frequency radio waves; that same
year, the Tappan Stove Co. introduces the first home
microwave model.
 Can you tell what kind of integration is needed here?

140 km/h… 1956th and The Power of Invention… is in your
blood. “My father has it. I have it. My sister has it. You have
that power, to invent too.” 

Top 50 Inventions of the Past 50 Years
 Data, Storage and 1970’s
DIGITAL MUSIC
 James Russell, a scientist with the
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory,
invents the first digital-to-optical
recording and playback system, in which
sounds are represented by a string of 0s
and 1s and a laser reads the binary
patterns etched on a photosensitive
platter. Russell isn't able to convince the
music industry to adopt his invention,
but 20 years later, Time Warner and
other CD manufacturers pay a $30
million patent infringement settlement
to Russell's former employer, the Optical
Recording Co.
“Winchester head” as one of the four most
significant developments in mass storage.
 1973: "Winchester" pioneers key HDD
technology
 It was IBM that had two 30MB capacity and
offered a 30 millisecond (ms) access time!
 The IBM Model 3350 (1975) turned the data
module into a non-removable head disk
assembly of 317 MB capacity that some
observers have called “the real Winchester”
and that has remained the fundamental HDD
packaging concept to the present day.
аs of 2012 most of computers use SSD
storage
 A solid-state drive (SSD, also known as a solid-state is a solid-state storage
device that uses integrated circuit assemblies as memory to store data
persistently.
 2Tera Bytes SSD for 400$!? And this is just for 40 years…
Do you remember the CD holders
for your car music player?
