General Funston plotted to capture General Emilio Aguinaldo, the leader of the Philippine revolutionary forces. On March 23, 1901, Funston's group was able to deceive Aguinaldo using Macabebe Scouts pretending to be prisoners, allowing them to capture Aguinaldo at his headquarters in Palanan. Aguinaldo was brought to Manila and forced to pledge allegiance to the United States, effectively ending the Philippine Revolution.
