How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Synergy
• Synergy is when artists make music videos to connect to their songs
but as well as that, artist also tend to create many different media
products to help build/maintain their brand identity. Also, synergy
can act as a link, for example, link between a music video and
digipak cover.
• It is important because it help it helps artists to spread their brand
to a wider audience, because many distribution channels are
created.
• Examples would be a digipak, magazine, and other products like
fragrances, stationary, clothes and more. These all promote artists
music.
Synergy I used
• Colours – The change of the colour of the costumes
during the music video, emphasises the importance of
our colour scheme, which is reciprocated through my
ancillary work.
• Clothes – The artists are wearing the same kind of urban
clothes through out the music video and the ancillary.
• Simplicity – There is theme of simplicity that runs
throughout the products (lack of effects, lack of
complexity, lack of colours).
Compared to real examples
• Wretch 32 – Wretchrospective
One real example I can use is
‘Wretch 32 – Wretchrospective’,
which is a good urban example
of synergy. This artist is in a
similar genre to my artists, so
this is a good one to use as it will
have some similarities to my
products.
Successful?
• I think the colour synergy was the most noticeable.
• This is because a key part in the music video is were
there is a colour clothes change, and this supports
the black and white colour scheme.
• Audience feedback has shown me that this is correct,
and that is a good use of synergy and it relates to my
genre.
