What kind of media institution might distribute your
media product and why?
Fahimo Sharif Production
Institution is organisation or business that owned to produce or distributes media products. Or it
is also being defined as a company that disperses a media product for audience consumption.
When films are releases they would either go to the cinema either nationally or internationally.
However after being at the cinema for a while it would then get dispersed shops to sell
merchandise either DVD or soundtrack.
Furthermore, more producing the film, the directors or producers can go to a institution to pitch
their idea for the film and could also ask if the institution would fund the project.
After I have done a lot of research I have decided to research more about the following
institutions in my product such as
 Columbia pictures
 The UK Film Council
 Vertigo Films
COLUMBIA PICTURES
Columbia Pictures is an American film production and distribution studio of
the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group. It is the also one of the leading
film studios in the world. The studio was founded in 1918 as Cohn-Brandt-
Cohn Film Sales by brothers Jack and Harry Cohn and Joe Brandt, released
its first feature film in August 1922. The institution has backed more than 1000
films of which include feature and short films. Their goal is to make the
America a global centre for films amongst the worlds competitive film
industry. They also support many up coming film directors, by funding their
films to attract a lot of potential audience.
There are different reasons why I have chose this institutions because
Columbia Pictures has created bad teacher which is Comedy movie. The
reason I have chosen this movie is that it has a lot of comedy and action
mystery like my own production.
The UK Film Council
The UK Film Council was a non-department public body set up in 2000
to develop and promote the film industry in the UK. The institution has
backed more than 900 films of which include feature and short films.
There goal is also to make the UK a global centre for films amongst the
worlds competitive film industry. Moreover, they also support many up
coming films directors, by funding their British
films to attract a wider audience.
VERTIGO FILMS
Vertigo film is a British film production and film distribution company based in London,
