  HOW DID YOUUSE NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION, RESEARCH AND PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES? By Alfreda Kinosa

  INTRODUCTION  When undertakingmy A2 coursework I used a variety of new technologies such as:  Final Cut Pro X  Prezi  Photoshop CS6/CC  YouTube  These technologies enabled me to produce a great project and enabled me to develop my ideas in man creative ways.

  WEEBLY  In myAS year I used a hosting service called Weebly to store all of my coursework. I used the same website this year however it had many new features which allowed me to showcase more work that I had created. RESEARCH AND PLANN

   In AS,I used Weebly to keep record of my magazine front cover and research. In A2 I was able to use the site to store even more content for my horror trailer. I stored my research and planning, construction and evaluation on the web platform. Advancements in technology have allowed me to store my work online were I can easily alter it and change it around.  Weebly enables me and others to have quick access to my work which is very convenient instead of storing my work on one computer or a USB.   RESEARCH AND PLANNING New media technologies greatly helped me produce a detailed research task for my coursework.  I used a green room to record my findings instead of typing them up. This allowed me to put images and video behind my by using Final Cut Pro X.  The green room allowed me to go into much more detail about my trailers and also helped me improve my editing skills.

  GREEN SCREEN  Allowedme to film my research and planning against a blank screen which I could then insert images behind.  Quiet room which enabled me to change and audio in my video  Made it easier to edit in Final Cut Pro

  RESEARCH AND PLANNING Another new technology that greatly helped me in m research and planning was YouTube.  YouTube was beneficial as it allowed me to watch existing horror trailers. I was then able to use the videos to showcase my findings.  YouTube was also useful as it allowed me instant access to horror video’s and other peoples research.  I used YouTube to upload my detailed research product on two media texts so that I could easily access it from anywhere.

  CONSTRUCTION  In theproduction stage of my coursework I used new technologies such as:  Photoshop  Canon DSLR 600 and Tripod  Final Cut Pro X  These technologies enabled me to produce convincing and realistic pieces of work which suited a horror genre.

  PHOTOSHOP CS6  Iused Photoshop to create my magazine front cover and my magazine poster.  I imported my pictures into Photoshop and then began to form a layout on the piece I was working on.  Photoshop allowed me to create amazing effects for my magazine front cover such as evil demon effect on my main character. I was not able to do this with make up so used layers and textures in Photoshop to create the look

  FINAL CUT PROX  I used final cut pro to both edit my horror trailer and my research on two horror films.  Final Cut Pro is a very detailed piece of software which enabled me to edit clips that I had filmed.  I was able to add titles and text as well as transitions and effects.  Helped make my trailer look professional and enticing for my audience.  Contained effects and filters which made my trailer look more towards a horror genre.

  MOTION  This newtechnology was located on a Mac computer and enabled me to create my two production logo’s.  I was able to animate text and images in order to create professional looking production logos.

  CANON DSLR &TRIPOD  I used a Canon 600D DSLR to film footage for my horror trailer  I used this camera as produced high resolution footage and helped make my trailer look professional  This technology helped me record footage for my trailer which I then edited in Final Cut Pro X.  The camera was easy to use and I could adjust the brightness and contrast to help give a more eerie look to my trailer.  I used a tripod to stabilise my clips when I did not want footage to look jumpy.  I used the tripod to take stable pictures for my magazine. I was able to take pictures on my own due to the tripod.

  EVALUATION  For myevaluation I used different media sites which I could create a presentation on  I used different sites to show m creativity in presenting information  I used:  Prezi  Stupeflix  Slideshare  Emaze  These sites allowed me to convey information about my horror products in new and creative ways. They were all easy to use and had templates laid out ready for me to use making it quick to write my evaluations. If I did not have access to these new technologies I would have had to type out all my evaluations and it would have been hard to add images and videos if needed.
