What have you learnt about technologies
from the process of constructing this
product?
Harry-Stephen Weedal
HD Cameras
I had never before used a HD camera until I
began to produce my magazine. I had to learn
the function of the camera and how to use it.
I also learnt different camera shots throughout
the production whilst I took the pictures,
including mid shots, medium close ups, high
angle shots and low angle shots.
Photoshop
I used Photoshop to product my front cover for
my music magazine
it was very useful and a good software that I had
unfortunately only used a couple of times.
Whilst constructing my product I learnt
different uses of photoshop such as how to crop
images by using the polygon tool.
Quark
I used Quark for the majority of my magazine production. I used it
for my double page spread and contents page.
To begin with I struggled to use Quark, importing images was a
hassle compared to other software such as Photoshop. However it
was an important software to use and without it I wouldn’t have
been able to create the double page spread and contents page to the
standard that I did.
The guidelines that were optional, were very useful as they prevented
me from accidentally cropping bits such as pictures out when
printed. Also it really helped with the layout of my product and kept
everything even.
Quark also made it clear when using the guides, how many columns I
would need for my text to fit.
Blogger
Throughout the production of my product blogger was very
useful.
It helped me to ensure myself that I had tasks to complete
for certain dates, this helped me to make sure I stayed on top
of things and not fall behind, so that I could have all work
completed before the deadline, with also enough time left to
amend certain things and change.
Blogger, was an easy software to use, it was quick and simple
once I had learnt to embed codes of my production through
certain websites such as 'slideshare' and 'powtoon.'
Conclusion
In my opinion the easiest technology to use for me was Photoshop, my reasons
for this are because I found it much faster and easier to produce my work for
example my Front Cover for my music magazine. Importing files such as
images and shapes was much simpler that doing so on other software and
technology like Quark.
Despite this, all of the technologies were very useful and important. I enjoyed
using HD cameras and discovering different ways and angles to take images,
medium low angle close ups was one angle I used to present an image in my
work. Despite all of the different angles I used the HD cameras still allowed me
to come out with a good and effective picture to use for my product.
