“ Fallen” Asked Emily to be our ‘artist’ as we thought her image fit the voice and her pretty feminine face and figure go with the stereotypical view of how she ought to look like As our artist is supposed to be British, we explained off her American accent by saying she had grown up in Ireland, which also influenced the choice of surname. Emily Quinn had left Ardara to go and live in London. She’s now 22 and has been signed onto a local record company called Faith & Hope Records. An A&R manager found out about her from people who had seen her singing in church and at small events. She also knows how to play the guitar and piano, further emphasising her talent. Her genre is considered as Adult Contemporary. But to be more specific it is Pop or Soft Rock. It’s quite blurred as to what people think it is. By Emily Quinn
Our MV followed conventions rather than challenged a Stereotypical artist the Costume the Locations in Camera shots/ angles the Framing and, the Narrative By looking at other music videos, we found that resembling artists such as Dido and Taylor Swift had similar themes and ideas, making us realise the conventions of the genre. by:
One such shot in our video is the pillar framing showing the artists as trapped and wanting to get out have more, as if they are looking for something, or stuck in a situation which will be resolved or found at the end of the song

These two shots are also both literal representations of the lyrics displayed through the visuals. ‘I have sunk so low’ ‘Long awaited answer’

Audience Feedback “ The narrative was slightly confusing, but I understood the concept of what was happening. But perhaps it’s effective in that it makes me want to view the video again.” “… could not always relate or connect to the artist, since they never seem to look at the camera and we never get to get close to them.” “… liked the pace. It wasn’t too fast or too slow, and fitted with the style of the song.” “ We’d expect to see a pretty artist singing the song in pretty locations” “ There aren’t enough locations, and most music videos have many to ensure that the audience never get bored and to also ensure repeated viewing is definite.”
Technology Mini DV – easy to carry around in filming - had functions to improve lighting and colour Blog – entries to keep track of planning and updates with our video Phone – to play music and try to get artist to sing in sync, as it would make editing easier later, also more believable so she holds or breathes in, etc. at the right time in the song imovie – editing software is a safety net for us as we can pick and choose which footage we want and need to fill in gaps or spaces which we would not be able to do without it. Image editing software Internet – research other videos and websites of similar artists – editing movie and images tips of forums, etc. - to add in effects and transitions to improve the flow of the video – could save final video in chosen format. E.g. HD, for CDs/ DVDs, etc. -Ulead Photo Express and Adobe CS3 to create digipak
