  Teaser PosterThe Title. Thetitle does not stand out but it is at the top of the page so is the first thing you read and see. This lets the audience know that this is the title. Rating. This is just under the title so that the audience can see straight away that the film is 5 star so therefore will be good to watch and grab more viewers. Main Image. The background picture is off two hands. The image does not give much away to the audience as you can see no faces or colour as the picture is in black and white. You are not able to tell from this that the film is a thriller as the picture does not look scary. Quote. There is a quote which obviously relates to the film. It is written so that the audience wonder what it could mean so therefore watch the film to find out. It is in the centre of the poster so that it is un miss able. Star Names. Big star names are written here in big writing so that it attracts the audience’s attention as they are able to see it clearly and will then make them want to watch the film as they like the actor/actress starred in it. Small Print. This is the small print of the film and the poster, which is usually on a lot of posters.

  Main Poster The Title. Thisis at the top of the page so that it is the first thing people see when they look at the poster. Again the title is not very big nor eye catching but it is the biggest piece of writing on the screen so you are drawn to it. Quote. Just underneath the title is the quote. This is so that it is the second thing the audience reads. Hopefully this will grab their attention and they will be intrigued to know what it means so therefore they will watch the film. Star Names. Big star names are written here in big writing so that it attracts the audience’s attention as they are able to see it clearly and will then make them want to watch the film as they like the actor/actress starred in it. Small Print. This is the small print of the film and the poster, which is usually on a lot of posters. Main Image. The picture is off two characters in the film. The fact the characters have their back to the audience will make them intrigued and male them watch the film to find out who they are. Also the picture is in black and white which again doesn’t say much about the film, as it doesn’t really look like a thriller. Rating. The audience are able to see the film is 5 star so therefore will be good to watch and grab more viewers. Review. The audience are able to see a well known newspaper have left a good review which means the film will be most likely good to watch and will grab more viewers.

  To what extenthave you achieved brand identity? I have achieved brand identity as I have included the same font throughout the whole of the posters, the font I have used is called ‘Bookman Old Style’ I chose to have this font because it is easy to read and in a way looks suspicious as the letters have gaps between each other which represents the film as things don’t stay together. This makes it effective to the audience as they will begin to recognise the style of the writing with the film and it will become familiar to them that is how it becomes well known to the public and how word of mouth will spread advertising the film. I have also included black and white photos in both posters as I am trying not to give too much of the film away and I think that although the images don’t look very thriller like on first glance that the black and white will help to achieve a more scary look. On the teaser poster the image does not give too much away to the audience but they can see that it involves two people together. But the audience are also able to see that the hands are only briskly holding each and it looks like they are about to let go. This tells the audience that there is going to be a type of separation in the film. It is a teaser to the audience as they don’t know what is going to happen. When you see the main poster things start to become clear because the location of the image is the same as the scenes in the opening sequence so it then becomes familiar and the audience will understand the story. When the audience look at the image they will see the mother and the child, as it stereotypically known that these are both vulnerable people which in this day and generation are most likely to be kidnapped or have something happen to them. From the image you can see that they are in the middle of nowhere which suggests that this could most likely happen and then brings back the teaser poster as the hands are about to let go. The fact that the audience recognise the path the mother and son are walking on as it leads to a park shows that something is going to happen because in the opening sequence you see the character staring at an empty swing.

  What conventions ofreal media texts have you used? I have used the same quote within both posters so that the audience recognise it and once they have watched the film are able to understand the quote and how it relates to the film. I got the idea to do this from previous research I have done on a film called ‘Se7en’ I looked at its teaser poster and its original posters so that I could learn what a real poster included. I have also included the title, and star names this is so that the audience see who is starring in the film and may grab more of their attention again I got the idea to include these because of my research. I have included the 5 star rating and reviews so that the audience are aware with how good the film is I got this idea from another film I have researched which is ‘Skyfall’ as I looked at its posters to see what it included. I have also added the small print of writing at the bottom of the poster as I have realised that real media texts usually have this and also I think makes my poster look more professional.

  How did youuse and develop your technical and production skills to achieve effects? What skills do you need to develop further? How will you do this? I made the posters on publisher as I felt that was the programme I was most confident with. I used my basic knowledge to include an image and text but unfortunately that was all I was able to achieve as my knowledge of anything further and more technical is limited. I used my creative skills to arrange the positions of the information and images around the page so that it looked eye catching towards an audience. From my research I was able to add relevant information which would normally be advertised on a poster and also what the audience would like to know. To develop further I will need to gain new skills on different programmes for example ‘Fireworks’ as that is a good programme for creativity with posters. To learn more about ‘Fireworks’ I will go on the programme more regularly and practise with other things so that I can get the hang of it.

  Describe how youhave addressed or tried to engage your audience? I have addressed and engaged my audience as I have included relevant information which they would want to know, for example the rating and also the review. If the audience know that the film has been rated good they will be more engaged to watch the film. I have addressed the audience by the images I have used as they are off a small child and a parent, this will make parents want to watch the film as they may be able to see the role in the film as what they do. Although from my poster you cannot really tell that my film is a thriller so it may appeal to families in which case I may need to change the designing of my poster.
