Looking back at my preliminary task, what do I feel I have learnt inthe
progressionfromit tothe full product?
In comparison to my preliminary task my final product is
distinctive evidence that I have majorly improved on programs
such as Photoshop. While producing the school magazine as a
preliminary task I did not take into consideration the target
audience. The image that I took is not high quality and it has
been edited poorly/ little, this makes a huge difference on a
magazine as the image should be the main focus, therefore it
has to look professional.
Bearing in mind the completely different genres, instantly you
can determine which magazine was created for the
preliminary task. Colour, image, text, and font was all very
carefully considered for my final creation, but I did not
evaluate different options for the school magazine to a full
extent therefore not having explored all options and
ultimately producing a non-professional looking magazine.
I have been able to learn from my preliminary task and
produce a magazine that is shaped around the pop genre, the
carefully considered colour scheme and high quality images
are where the comparison between each magazine is. By
using primary and secondary research I was able to find out
the target audiences preferences and change anything that
did not quite fit.
I experimented a lot with Photoshop before creating my final
pieces, the preliminary task was almost a practice of basic
skills which I was later able to develop, by doing so I was able to experiment with my own
creativity and assess the structure of the magazine in different formats to see which one
looked more aesthetically pleasing.
I am relatively happy with my final creations but there are some things I would have done to
improve if I had the chance to do it again, first of all I would have toned down the teeth
whitening to make it look a little more realistic. Secondly I may have reconsidered the layout
again and experimented more before constructing the final product. Overall my product
meets the general pop magazine standards and looks professional to some extent.
