Digi-pak
Evaluation 1
The full digi-pak
Large band name to grab
viewers attention
Black name against
white so stands out
Multiple imagery and vintage
colours to show ‘old film camera’
effect
Vintage colours,
film grain and light
bleed like film
cameras.
Indie clothes and hair
cuts, both expanding
on the genre of
music.
Both in ‘indie’ locations-
outside, by brick
walls/alley way and
another locations that
look grungy or worn
down.
Use of a camera flash
to bring out colours
and exposure.
Unknown (at the
time) Indie rock band
so the covers include
all the members for
fans to recognize.
Most Indie Rock bands don’t show a picture of the band on the back but we
wanted to promote the band as much as we could. On the kooks’ album they
use a very similar picture on the front to the back, we didn’t want it to look as
though we only had 3-4 pictures to choose from so we thought we would get
some photos when we were off guard.
Bar-codes and copy write notice
Song titles
We kept the same colours and theme with
the vintage looking photographs, instead of
switching to black and white.
We kept the writing small and
out of the middle, like The
Kooks’, so its not in your face
and you can see the picture
behind.
Originally, we had a
second picture of
peter (the
drummer) to the
right of the disk, so
it mirrored the
guitarist.
In our first draft, I
tried to add the lyrics
to ‘my number’ – the
song we chose to do
our music video on.
The band Fall out
Boy, include 4 panels
all around their
digipak with lyrics of
their songs around.
This was all good but
it didn't fit our
digipak and the feel
wasn’t right. Alt J
add the lyrics too but
again it didn’t look
right.
We replaced the square
in the bottom left (that
originally had lyrics)
with a montage of
photos from the
photoshoot. The kooks
did this, when they took
a handful of photos and
put them together.
really, we just
wanted to put a
picture of the band
on the CD but we
didn't know how to
put the name of
the band across.
we thought about
using something
like Weezer’s but it
didn't fit the rest of
the digipak or
website.
We then found a
new font on ‘Da
Font’ and put that
behind the band
members. as well
as a load of other
graffiti shapes to
make it all blend in
and just make the
photo a bit more
‘edgy’.
