Evaluation Question 3
What have you learned from your
audience feedback?
• Audience feedback has been crucial to creating my finished products in
terms of my digipak and advert, I made a draft version, and then got my
peers to comment on it so that i could make changes accordingly, after
realising that this first draft was in all honesty a complete failure I knew I
needed to make sufficient changes, my audience feedback helped
massively in this situation. After making my second draft which was
completely different to my first I again needed to get feedback from my
peers so that I could make a decent product. The feedback that I got on
my second draft was essential to getting to the level of my final digipak, I
learned a lot from the comments, for example what looked good, what
didnt look good, but I learned the most from the advice from my teachers,
they gave me advice which I took on board as I hold their opinions in high
regards, considering they know exactly how to get the most marks and
what looks good and what doesn't, so with the combination of my
audience feedback, advice from my teachers, and my own opinions I was
able to create a digipak and advert that I am finally really happy with.
DIGPAK DRAFT 1
• "Your consistent theme and cover image is very aesthetically pleasing to your audience upon first viewing and
conform well to your chosen music genre which will attract your chosen target audience."
• - JOE FORD
•
• "The monochrome palette throughout is very effective, and relates to the genre of your band. I think that the text
on the inside left panel needs another 'eyes above' or shift the text down so that it is central on the panel"
• - MILLIE DREW
•
• "The simple design and colour scheme looks very professional and the choice of picture on the front cover makes it
look very authentic"
• - REBBECA TURNER
•
• "A really fascinating digipak draft, the continuity of the two fonts you have chosen works really well and are
distributed onto your album well"
• - JOSH ANDERTON
•
• "I like how you have kept consistency throughout the panels as this adds professionalism to your work. I also like
the simplicity of the digipak as it is effective."
• - QUINN MACARTHUR
• The feedback I got from these comments
really helped me to develop my digipak into
something more creative, even though my
second draft was still not up to the quality
that I wanted it to be it was a lot more on the
way to a decent product.
• "I like how your album is consistent and each panel flows well with a clear connection, You could
consider adding something to your front cover to make the band/album clearer so the audience
immediately knows what it is, Also, I would suggest sticking either with your font style throughout
as on the inside left the text is in capitals however on your back it is all lower case"
• -VICTORIA PRESTON
•
• "This advert works well as it links to the digipak and the choice of colours is good. I think that the
choice of using minimal information and the use of colour to bring out important information"
• - REBBECA TURNER
•
• "I like how you have included the same image on your advert as you have on the front cover of your
album as this creates a good connection between the two."
• - QUINN MACARTHUR
•
The main thing I took away from this feedback
is that the audience like
the continuity element of the digipak and
advert, so this is something that I made sure I
kept in my second draft and of course my final
piece.
DIGIPAK DRAFT 2
• "the lighting of the photographs aren't consistent, the photographs
are distorted/stretched
• the white background of the record logo doesn't look professional"
• - MILLIE DREW
•
• "The barcode is slightly too big and I would also re-consider the
mask idea as I feel they have no relevance to the mise en scene of
your characters and make your work look unprofessional"
• - JOE FORD
•
ADVERT DRAFT 2
• To improve a bigger font is needed for the 'out
now' and you should advertise a 'debut
album'. The white young turks symbol looks
unprofessional so i would look for a way to
possibly cut it out or find a different colour
symbol. Finally put the link to the website in a
different colour to make it stand out"

MUSIC VIDEO
• While making our draft video we received feedback from our peers and teachers which was essential to creating a
decent final piece of work. The majority of our feedback came from our teacher Mr ford who gave us positive
feedback as he could see what we were trying to achieve and he pointed us in the right direction, the positives
being our actors, however sometimes their dancing wasn't quite as good as we had hoped, this is something we
tried to improve on to make the whole thing look more convincing. He told us to get rid of the pan shots as they
just didn't look good and it wasn't worth us trying to make them look good as it would take a lot of time and effort
when it would just be better to take a different kind of shot and that time would be better spent elsewhere.
•
• When it came to making the final edit of our video we took a lot on board in terms of feedback, again from both
our classmates and our teachers. Our second piece received a lot more praise than our draft, it had a much more
professional look. We were still learning how to use 'final cut pro' and the advice that we got on how to edit in a
professional and effective way. In this final video the shots moved smoother, and the whole thing just looked like a
real music video, the actors were very good, particularly the lip syncing which was near perfect, something which I
think is crucial to making a realistic music video. We used a studio for our final video too, which was
recommended my peers and teachers for this genre of music, this worked really well as this type of venue is used
extremely often in the music industry.
• I feel that the draft video was essential to getting to the stage we were at when we finished our final music video,
it enabled us to find out what worked and what didn't, and gave us a great opportunity to get audience feedback,
which we used well to create a video that we are all proud of and happy with, without the draft video and
audience feedback we would still be struggling to put together a decent edit.
