USES AND GRATIFICATIONS
ENTERTAINMENT
THE LOW KEY LIGHTING IN THE WOODS SCENE AND THE SCORE USED IN THE TWO
SCENES REPRESENTS THE MYSTERY, SUSPENSE AND TENSION THAT THE AUDIENCE
MAY BE FEELING, JUST LIKE THE USE OF LONG SHOTS AND MEDIUM LONG SHOTS
CONNOTING UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY AS THEY ARE DEALING WITH VIOLENT TEENAGE
GIRLS AND IT ALSO LEADS TO THE FEELING OF UNEASINESS AND WONDER, WHICH IS
ENTERTAINING TO MANY PEOPLE. NOT ONLY THIS BUT THE FACT THAT THE SAME SCORE
WAS USED TOWARDS THE END OF THE ROOM SCENE CONNOTES THE BIG REVEAL OF
WHO THE GIRL IN THE WOODS IS.
INFORMATION
THE LONG SHOT OF THE COPS IN THE WOODS GIVES THE AUDIENCE
INFORMATION AS TO WHY THEY ARE THERE DUE TO THE FACT THAT COPS ARE
NORMALLY ASSOCIATED WITH CRIME WHICH IS WHAT OCCURRED IN THE
WOODS. NOT ONLY THIS BUT THE MEDIUM SHOTS WHERE YOU SEE A GIRL
RUNNING IN THE WOODS HOLDING THE SHOES THAT THE COPS FOUND GIVES
THE AUDIENCE INFORMATION AS TO WHO THE SHOES ARE LINKED TO.
HOWEVER, THE PART THAT GIVES THE AUDIENCE THE MOST INFORMATION IS
THE REVEAL OF ALI SHOWING THE SHOES TO LEXIE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT
INFORMS THE AUDIENCE THAT ALI WAS THE PERSON RUNNING IN THE WOODS.
PERSONAL IDENTITY
ALL THE FEMALES IN OUR PRODUCTION ARE A FORM OF PERSONAL IDENTITY.
THIS IS BECAUSE TIFF REPRESENTS THE AUDIENCE WHO ARE YOUNG
WORKERS THAT LIKE TO WORK HARD AND ARE EMPOWERED. LEXIE
REPRESENTS THE TEENAGERS IN THIS WORLD WHO ARE CONSTANTLY ON
THEIR PHONE BUT WHO IS IN A FRIENDSHIP THAT MAKES THEM UNHAPPY
AND JEALOUS. ALI REPRESENTS THE TEENAGERS WHO CARE ABOUT THEIR
IMAGE, ARE CONTROLLING AND PUT THEMSELVES FIRST BEFORE OTHERS.
SOCIAL INTERACTION
OUR PRODUCTION SATISFIES THE AUDIENCES NEED FOR SOCIAL INTERACTION
DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE REVEAL IN THE END WILL GIVE PEOPLE SOMETHING
TO TALK ABOUT. THIS IS BECAUSE IT WILL MAKE PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW
MORE AND TALK TO OTHER PEOPLE ABOUT WHAT THEY THINK IS GOING TO
HAPPEN NEXT. NOT ONLY THIS BUT THE WOODS SCENES WILL MAKE PEOPLE
TALK ABOUT WHY THE POLICE ARE THERE, WHAT THEY THINK HAPPENED AND
WHO ALI IS BEING CHASED BY. ALL OF THIS PROVIDES THE AUDIENCE WITH
INTELLECTUAL PLEASURE AS IT GIVES THEM AN ENIGMA TO SOLVE.
HIERARCHY OF NEEDS
ESTEEM
I BELIEVE THAT OUR AUDIENCE WOULD LOOK TO OUR
PRODUCTION TO FULFILL THEIR NEEDS OF CONFIDENCE
AND SELF-ESTEEM DUE TO THE FACT THAT OUR
PRODUCTION WILL MAKE OUR FEMALE AUDIENCE FEEL
EMPOWERED AND APPRECIATED. NOT ONLY THIS BUT IT
WILL MAKE THEM QUESTION WHAT THEY BASE THEIR SELF
ESTEEM ON AS IT MAY MAKE THEM QUESTION WHETHER
OR NOT THEY SHOULD RELY ON THE OPINION OF OTHERS
OR THEIR FRIENDS SINCE IT SHOWS THE NEGATIVE
EFFECTS OF DOING SO.
SELF-ACTUALIZATION
OUR PRODUCTION COULD ALSO FULFIL THE
NEEDS OF OUR AUDIENCE, MOSTLY SECONDARY,
WHO WOULD LOOK TO OUR PRODUCTION FOR
PROBLEM SOLVING AND MORTALITY DUE TO THE
FACT THAT OUR WHOLE NARRATIVE REVOLVES
AROUND OUR AUDIENCE SOLVING AN ENIGMA
AND DOES INVOLVE DEATH WHICH IS
ASSOCIATED WITH MORTALITY.

DOING. THIS WOULD MAKE OUR AUDIENCE NOT FEEL THE NEED TO DO THISIN THEIR LIFE BECAUSE THEY
WOULDN’T WANT TO BE IN THE SAME SITUATION AS ALI. LASTLY, THE FACT THAT ALI WAS INVOLVED IN A
CRIME, WOULD MAKE OUR AUDIENCE NOT WANT TO BE PART OF A CRIME ASIT COULD RUIN THEIR LIFE.
