WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
• From constructing my media product, I have learnt modern technology along the way. But in
my opinion, I have already had substantial knowledge of technology as I carried out the
GCSE media course, however I feel like my knowledge has been tested a lot throughout the
A-level course, due to filming techniques and editing techniques. Furthermore, Blogger.com
was modern technology to me, therefore for my first few blog posts I didn’t understand and
know how to include distinctive features on my post. For example, I found it hard to work
out how to embed videos or pictures to my blog. From working on my blog for the past
couple of months, I have found that a blog has been very important and it’s ’a creative way
to document the entire process of making my final product.
• Furthermore, for my editing and filming, I filmed on my IPhone 6 as it was the best type of
technology I could access to film my opening sequence. This was massively an important
piece of technology in constructing our final media product because if we didn’t have a high-
quality camera, our final product would look unprofessional. During our filming, we had to
make sure we were filming horizontally. This is because the clips would have had black
borders when we moved them around to put them together when editing. In addition, by
using my I Phone to record our footage, we could attach my phone onto the tripod,
therefore our filming footage was extremely steady and clear, which means that my media
product would have looked very professional.
• As a group, we used an Apple Mac computer to edit as this had a technology called Final Cut Pro.
This was used to piece all our filming footage together correctly, to help create a professional
flowing opening sequence. From using Final Cut Pro, I have learnt a variety of new features which
has helped us piece our filming footage together. For example, adding non-diegetic background
music in behind our chase scene in our filming footage to help create a dramatic and uncertain
atmosphere. Also, adding transitions such as; fading shots into other shots to help create
continuity. The pre-lim task on the other hand gave me a variety of ideas of how to expand on just
using the basic software. Also by completing the pre-lim task, it helped me gain a lot more
confidence and belief in using a variety of difficult shot types and camera angles in my final
product such as; 180-degree rule shot, high camera shot angles and over the shoulder shots.
