Feedback from music magazine
questionnaire
By Megan Burley
Q1 – How old are you?
In my questionnaire the
highest age range of people
was 13-17 years olds. I have
decided to have my target
audience around this age
range because I will be able to
include much deeper and
detailed content inside the
magazine and also it wont be
difficult for readers to read
and understand as they are at
the appropriate age to
understand complex
language. Also most teenagers
like to read magazines and
have a very high interest in
the music industry and the
latest news.

Q2 – Which gender are you?
In my questionnaire the
most people who
answered were female.
My target audience is
aimed at both genders,
but from the results of my
questionnaire I will
include female attractions
to influence the opposite
gender. My magazine will
be appropriate and
appeal to both genders
who are interested in the
music industry.

Q3 - What genre of music do you listen to?
Indie
Rock
Metal
In my questionnaire most people
picked Indie for their genre of
music that they listen to. I have
decided to base my magazine
within this genre of music as it is a
popular discovery within
teenagers even though Indie
music has been around for
generations. More and more
teenagers are becoming familiar
with Indie music and actually
enjoying it. So by popular demand
I will influence and base my
magazine around Indie genre
music.
Q4 – What is your favourite music
magazine?
In my questionnaire NME
magazine was the most popular
answers within the options given
for this question. I have decided to
base my ideas and look further
into detail with this this magazine
and try and identify what the
magazine does in order for it to be
so popular and successful within
todays society. I think the NME is a
excellent example to base my
music magazine from and also it
includes the genre Indie which
also helps within making my
magazine as that is the genre of
music I will be basing my own
magazine from.

In my questionnaire the
highest result was the band
Oasis which is an indie genre
band. The second and third
most highest result were
also Indie Bands, followed by
Metal and Rock bands. In my
music magazine I will be
focusing on indie bands,
including information upon
current popular bands and
gigs and upcoming bands,
music artists and also more
gigs. This result is helpful
because it helps me to
identify what my audience
wants to be included inside
about certain artists and
bands.

In my questionnaire the
highest answer was £3-£5,
by popular demand most
people would expect to pay
around this amount for a
music magazine. From this
information I have decided
to price my music magazine
around £3.50-£4.00 this is
because of the content I will
include inside and readers
will also receive freebies to
attract more attention
towards my music magazine.
Also by pricing my magazine
around this price I am not
pricing the magazine at too
little or too much, I am
charging a reasonable and
affordable amount for the
readers.
Q7 – How often do you read music
magazines?
Everyday

Other
In my questionnaire the
highest amount of people
said that they read
magazines every week. I
have decided to issue out my
magazine once every week
as that was the highest
demanding time scale within
my questionnaire. I feel that
more people will be able to
afford the magazine each
week and I will have enough
information to fill the
magazine with content that
happened within the week
in the musical world.
Q8 – What content do you normally
read in the music magazine?
The main
article
The side
articles
Albums/Album
reviews
Upcoming
gigs/concerts
Other
In my questionnaire the
highest answered was the
main article that people read
normally and on a regular
basis. As I will be issuing my
magazine once every week I
will include all these options
and if not more within my
magazine so that my target
audience will get a fair and
reasonable amount of
information each week
including their favourite
section of a music magazine.
This will also increase my
audience readers.

In my questionnaire most
people voted for a variety
of different colours. As I
will be issuing my music
magazine once a week I
will attempt to vary the
range of colour schemes
within my magazine. It is
important that the colours
used on my magazine can
reflect the themes, genre,
ideas and target audience
my magazine will be aimed
at.
Q10 – Preferred amount of pages in a
music magazine?In my questionnaire the
highest amount of people
selected 91+ pages they
prefer to see in a magazine.
As I will be issuing my
magazine once a week I will
be aiming to cover at least
50-70 pages, this is because it
will be difficult to cover 90+
pages with only a weeks
worth of information about
the music industry and
updated information with
what is going on inside the
music world. I think 50-70
pages is a good reasonable
amount and readers will
appreciate this amount, not
too little but not too much
information to receive.

a music magazine?
In my questionnaire the
popular demand was this
week articles. I will included
updated this week articles
in every magazine issued. I
will also include the other
answers and much more to
keep readers interested and
wanting to read more. Also
this will increase weekly
buyers, more and more
readers will buy the
magazine frequently if there
is a lot of interesting
information included.

Q12 – Would you enjoy or do you often
get freebies inside a music magazine?
Yes
No
I don't know
In my questionnaire most people
said that they would enjoy or
that they do often get freebies
inside a music magazine. I will
include freebies inside my music
magazine because the readers
enjoy it and it will feel as if the
magazine is giving back to them
for buying their magazine. This
will make the readers feel special
and valued. I will aim to include
different freebies inside my
magazine every week and relate
them to the themes and articles
within the magazine.
Q13 – What do you like inside a music
magazine?

Other
In my questionnaire there
was a variety of different
answers for what do you
like inside a music
magazine. In my magazine I
will take into consideration
all of the likes people have.
As I only asked 20 people
to take part in my
questionnaire this only
gives me a small insight to
what people like within a
music magazine. I will
include all of these options
and many more as people
have different opinions,
likes and dislikes.
Q14 – What do you dislike inside a
music magazine?

Quiz and
questionnaires
Other
In my questionnaire many
people said that too much
writing was their dislike
inside a magazine. In my
magazine I will try and
balance the amount of text
with a good amount of
pictures so there isn't too
much reader for my
audience. As I only asked 20
people to fill out my
questionnaire I will have to
include the dislikes inside my
magazine as other people
enjoy these sections. I will
have a good amount of
information within each
section to keep every reader
satisfied.

This will help with the

more to make readers

the content and quality
of my music magazine so
they will buy it weekly.
