SCREENSHOTS STEP BY STEP OF A
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
Firstly, I opened Indesign and selected two pages for my
double page spread. I then imported an image that I took
myself at a gig of a band. I placed the image in the
centre of the page and enlarged it.
Next, I added the title of my article onto the second
page of the layout. The title is related to the band’s
name. I used the text tool to create the text and
then chose the type of font I wanted; I chose based
on my contents page and front cover fonts.
Next, I added my article from ‘The Stags’ onto the
page by copying it over from a word document. I
then later decided to change the colours of the
questions to red to match my colour scheme. Also,
I included the ‘drop capital’ at the start of the
interview.
Afterwards, I copied the ‘stand first’ that I was
using, over to my double page spread from a
word document. I placed it in the top right
corner to introduce what the article is about.
Lastly, I included the ‘drop quote’ which is a quote from the
one of the band members that is quite inspiring. Magazines
such as ‘Q’ and ‘NME’ use drop quotes on their double page
spreads. This also separates the text up. I then added a red
box around the ‘drop quote’ using the rectangle tool and
filled it in with colour to make it stand out.
This is my final double page spread complete with
everything included. I also added in a byline giving credit
to myself for the text and photography as everything
was created and taken by me.
