Font ideas from existing
mastheads
Dislike
I don’t really like the use of font for this masthead
because it looks too similar to other magazines.
There isn't any originality and if I was going to link
the font for my masthead to my cover stories It may
not suit the genre.
Dislike
I do like this font but I wouldn’t use this for a
masthead for a music magazine, especially for
my genre. Its has a more ‘girly’ look and id want
my magazine to appeal to both male and
female.
Dislike
I'm not keen on this font because I prefer more
simple fonts on magazines and not too fancy.
Whereas with this masthead it does have quite a
fancy look. The ‘F’ doesn’t look like the same font
has been used to the rest of the word, because is
a lot larger and has a different look to it. I would
probably want to stick to using one font for my
masthead because it might make the front cover
look over the top and messy.
Dislike
I would want my masthead font to have
a simple but different look but this
masthead is too simple for the genre
that I am doing. This masthead looks like
its for a magazine that wouldn’t have a
lot going on in it. It also again looks like it
would appeal more to females which
isn't what I want.
Like
This masthead looks good and would suit a magazine
that would want their masthead to cover the top of
cover. I like the font because it links to my genre, it has a
direct look and is eye catching. I think this font would be
suitable for what I what I would want to include on the
front cover, because I don’t want the front cover to look
over crowded with cover stories, and this masthead
could easy make the front cover look over crowded if
too much was included.
Like
I like the font used for this masthead because it
is bold, not too fancy and would suit my genre.
I like the idea of having one of the letters tilted
or in a different position to the rest of the
letters because it gives it a bit of originality that
other mastheads don’t have.
Like
I like this font and idea of masthead because the font
itself is simple, but has also been made to look so it
suits and represents the genre, just by having thin
lines through the middle. This masthead is different
and unique which is what I would want to be aiming
for when deciding on my own masthead. It is also bold
and would be eye catching at the top of a magazine.
The only issue with this masthead design is it wouldn’t
suit a magazine that had a lot going on the front cover
because it would make it look over crowded.

I like this font because it has a different look to it
and would suit a music magazine. It would appeal
to my target audience and it looks good.
