Main area of activity:
For my project I will mainly be working in film as this is the area I want to develop, there are a few
other pieces of work I would like to try and bundle with it such as a couple of posters (Graphic
design), a trailer and a DVD/video tape box cover.
Rationale:
Throughout the 2 years I have focused more towards film and animation, while this project will
primarily be film, I would like to have some animated pieces for my work to show a diverse set of
skills, the skills that I have learned over the years are how to operate a D class and a C class
camera by Canon, while most are the same these are the cameras I am most familiar with. As for
the technical aspects I have learned about the rule of thirds the importance of lighting in my unit 12
and how the shots should be cut as I would usually have the shots drag out too long. As for the
overall content I have learned from my previous FMP that planning and research are everything,
so I plan to go greatly into depth with my research so that I can rely on it more to help with
production and refining the production and ironing out the issues.
Project Concept:
Summary:
The concept that I’m going to work to about how technology can make someone lonely and
reclusive as they see no need to leave the house.
I want to show people the issue with overusing technology and to moderate usage and go out and
socialise more, the other main point I want to drive is that being active can greatly help your mental
health and being inside all the time can be harmful to you physically and mentally.
I will be making a film about these issues in society, my ideal length of film would be around the 7-
8 min mark however I want to aim for something a bit longer than this so that there is more content
to look at and so it can create the desire for more similar productions.
I will need to research different technical aspects that I can apply to my work so that I can make it
more technically advanced and look more appealing to people. I will also need to investigate
different ways of developing the story to be more interesting rather than a simple he stays inside
then must go out and decides that’s better.
The research will help me with the quality of the story as all the technical ability in the world
couldn’t make a bad story better. The research into different technical aspects is to make it more
visually appealing.

Week Tasks to be Completed: Specific Tasks
1 Pre-Proposal
Context
Proposal
 Complete work on pre pre-proposal and get
feedback
 Work on feedback for preproposal
 Work on context and Proposal
 Get feedback for Context and proposal
 Over weekend work feedback for context and
proposal
2 Primary/Secondary research
slides
 Look at existing products and what influence this
will have on my product as well as what
techniques I have learned from it.
 Try and get out a book to do research with
3 Primary/Secondary research
slides
 Research- primary and secondary
 Look into topics that I believe may be necessary
to have knowledge on.
 Think about issues that I may have to tackle for
the problem-solving aspect of pre-production
4 Pre-production  Evidence experiments over holidays
 Complete outstanding work
5 Pre-production  Fill in slides of work talking about the different
problems associated with production and how I
will combat the issues
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
My evaluation will be done in 3 separate ways.
The first is the weekly reflections that will be going on during the Pre-Production stage of my
production, this will be to evidence all the work that I have done that has gone into my final product
and that I am sticking to my time schedule.
The next will be the daily reflections that will be taking place during the main 8 weeks of production
so that I can evidence my process and look critically at what I have done and what I will need to do
in the coming days/weeks. I will also be summarising each week as they go so that I can see the
amount of work that I have done.
Finally, during the last 2 weeks I will be going over the work that I have produced in detail and
what I did and didn’t do well talking about points like the research, planning/pre-productions and
my problem-solving abilities. As well as the pre-production work I will be looking at each of the
aspects of my final piece like the technical and aesthetic aspects of my work and talking about
what I would have done if I had more time as well as getting some peer feedback on my product.
