Pre-Production

Audience Profile
• The product is made for teenagers between 19-19 years old.
• The largest audience for games like this are teenagers so
appealing to them would make the most sense.
• The psychographic I want to appeal to us the needs driven
kind of people, since I think the message of the game applies
to them the most. The aspect of them missing out on
something should stand out to them more, since it’s one of
the groups fears.

• The colors that I’ve shown on the slide are the ones that I have in mind when I
picture the setting for the game. He ones at the bottom are the ones that I
think will be the ones that are used the most.
• The one at the top is brighter then the other two, and is the one that I will
most likely use the least, if at all. The time I’d use it is at the start in the basic
level, which is meant to look bright and like a normal game that came out in
the 80’s.
• The middle one will be the contrasting colors, the balance between the good
and the bad sides of the game, nothing too bright but nothing too dark either,
I think it helps add a layer of tension since people don’t know which way the
game could go.
• The three character designs I chose, all have a lot of detail on them for what
they are. They spent a lot of time making sure that they looked perfect for the
world they’re in. I don’t have as much time as these people did but I can still
spend a fair amount of time making sure they don’t stand out in the world if
nothing else.
• The one level that I showed is the perfect example of the kind of look this
game is going to have, more dark then light, but still a good contrast of both.
Also a HUD that isn’t in the way and is barely even noticeable, and only tells
the players what they need to know

Sound Effects/Dialogue
Sound Effects
Walking animation, either taken from YouTube or made quickly on my phone
Slight growl from the monster that’s following the player, made on mac
The sound of a computer glitching and shutting down, taken from YouTube, or from a
free website
8 bit talking to create more unease, can use a text to speech website to do the talking
for this .
The sound of lights flashing and going out, made with phone or taken from a free
website.
Flashlight turning on and off, made on phone, or taken from a free website.
Loud bang and scream from the monster, made on phone or taken from a free
website.
A faint high pitched twinkle noise when near the only other friendly entity in the
game, taken from a free website.
Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
losing all progress because the software
stopped working or the macs stop working
Make sure to save frequently, even if a few
frames have been done they aren’t worth
losing. Make sure to plan ahead or do work
from home in case something like this does end
up happening.
losing all time because parts of the game were
too ambitious and spent too much time on
those few parts.
If something looks like it’s going to be too
complex, dumb it down a bit and resort to the
planning and proposal for help, this will waste
less time, and will still make sense to the game.
The game ends up not looking like what I made
in the pre production, or even parts of the
experiment.
Take advice from everything that was leading
up to the production and only add things that
make the game better, without loosing out on
time. Making sure the game doesn’t seem
boring at the same time.
Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Almost tripping over cables or bags that have
been left lying around the room.
don’t leave any wires or cables laying around, if
any need to be used put them away safely and
out of the way. Keep bags under the desk.
Getting strain and cramps on hands due to
overworking and not taking any breaks.
Take breaks every half hour or so, giving eyes a
break and hands a chance to loosen up so I can
still stay ahead without losing time.
Possible electric shock from loose wires or
spilling water on the macs.
Don’t keep water bottles out on the desk to
avoid spilling any out everywhere, even if
they’re closed there’s a chance it can split open.
Don’t touch any wires that look like they’re
broken, even if lose if they still work then it’ll be
fine.

Editor's Notes

  • #3 List age, gender, ABC1/C2DE etc (as appropriate). Include images as appropriate to illustrate your target audience Use https://yougov.co.uk/profileslite#/ for similar games to list audience desires/interests and how you will appeal to them through your game.
  • #4 Explore colours and pixel art styles similar to what you want to produce. Discuss these elements in relation to why you chose them and where you may use them in your project. Go over as many pages as you need to.
  • #6 Mock up of a potential design using the colours and sourced images. Alter this slide to make it appropriate for your planned product types. Use the content established in your style sheet to do this.
