 considered suitable in this category

    slightly more graphic nature towards
    fantasy character and/or non graphic
    violence towards human-looking
    characters or recognisable animals, as
well as videogames that show nudity
of a slightly more graphic nature would
fall in this age category. Any bad

Differences between casual and serious
                gamers
Casual Gamers
 Casual gaming mainly consists of free online gaming, family
orientated gaming. And handheld devices like the PSP and the DS.
Casual gamers normally play games that are revolved around easy
to play games that are mainly for fun. They can also play games that
consist of mind boggling puzzle games. The iPod touch is another
aspect of the casual gaming universe that introduces apps with fun
quirky mini games to the casual gaming audience. Family orientated
games have been mostly seen on the Nintendo wii. Which has been
found to be good at bringing together a family to play a game that is
    suitable for all ages.
Serious Gamers
 Serious gamers are an audience that expect from games like
shooters, rpg and adventure to involve skill, practice, competition
and fun. They play games that have multiplayer's that involve many
gamers from around the globe competing over scores and skill. This
is seen in the highly popular call of duty games were players
compete online for score and skill. Serious gamers look for games
that give hd photo realistic graphics. Realistic game play involved in
campaigns and multiplayer's. They expect new aspects in their
favourite genres to appear in the next games. They play games that
aree immersive and addictive to the audiences the games target.
Issues relating the differences
between casual and serious gaming
 The issues involving these two different audiences to the games
industry is firstly you cant please both of these audiences with one
game. Which makes it harder for the games industry to make profit
out of all gamers. Secondly the games industry have to make sure
they are giving the audience they have targeted for there games is
    what the audience expect.
What are the issues raised when targeting audiences within
a media industry you have studied?

A study commissioned by the UK games industry found that parents let
children play games for adults, even though they knew they were 18-
   rated.
Like movies, all games receive an age classification. This works through
a two-tier system involved the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC)
and a voluntary European setup known as Pegi.
But the research presented at the ELSPA(Entertainment and Leisure
Software Publishers Association) summit in London suggests that few
parents pay much attention to the age ratings. Parents perceive age
ratings as a guide but not as a definite prohibition.
Of those parents surveyed, 40% had
allowed their children to watch a film
classified above their age, and a quarter
(25%) had allowed them to play age-
   inappropriate video games.
