Community-first Leadership
Ideas on effective, community-centred leadership 🚀
“Community-first leadership is the ability to understand
and guide a group of like-minded people towards a
common goal”
Understand the community
● Learn about your community & its
needs: values, skills, ideals and
aspirations
● Identify your most important
community members
● Think of the community as a whole
● Listen to ideas and opinions
1
Mobilize and inspire
● Effective community
leadership: education,
inspiration, motivation and
mobilization
● Communicate, coach, convince
● Be authentic Bring your
leadership style to life
2
Be accountable to the community
● Encourage feedback
● Foster open discussions on key
topics, activities, events
● Lead with honesty and integrity

have to be flashy, and complex. Just stick
to your mission

someone else is more often than not
willing to help
● Be kind to yourself Search for moments
that bring you joy, peace, and calm
4

you’re a community organiser.
You become a leader because
