Character People that are portrayed within the rock genre usually resemble that they are very bad people who behave in reckless ways. The extreme rebellion in the mainstream society may show a more depressed and ‘hurt’ side. For example, Rihanna – Disturbia shows a very rock like emo music video. In this case Rihanna is trying to be scary which is bad as shes making another person feel uneasy whilst she is struggling within her love life. Mise en Scene – (Costume, lighting, actors, actors, make- up, props and setting) Dull, dark, alcohol, drugs ext. Iconography Like R&B or Hip Hop, the rock genre iconography mainly focuses on a main character only or cut back to them through out the music video. The colour and style of the music video is often reflect the characters mood. Like Drakes hotline bling shows only him in the music video excited over his phone ringing from and admirer. Narrative There is wider awareness of what is going on through a rock music video as what is sang about is preformed. Even though this happens in most other genres and music videos, rock music videos enhance this more to there target audience. Theme Within the rock genre there is a very aggressive and laid back up beat atmosphere due the modern rock music video emotions shown as discussed in the characters box. Sound The atmosphere of the song and the use narratives depends on the sound of the mood. (aggressive or ‘upbeat’)
