FACT
Did you knowthat 30 percent
of the solar energy that
reaches our world is reflected
back to space, approximately
70 percent passes through
the atmosphere to the earth’s
surface, where it is absorbed
by the land, oceans, and
atmosphere, and heats the
planet?
13
Global warming
-is theincrease in Earths
temperature caused by too
much heat being trapped in to
the atmosphere due to gases
like Carbon dioxide, which come
from activities such as burning

Global warming isthe term
used to describe the rising
of the average
temperature on Earth.

LA NIÑA
IS AWEATHER PATTERN THAT OCCURS IN
THE PACIFIC OCEAN. IT IS CHARACTERIZED
BY STRONG WINDS BLOWING WARM WATER
AT THE OCEAN’S SURFACE FROM SOUTH
AMERICA TO INDONESIA, WHICH CAUSES
COLD WATER FROM THE DEEP TO RISE TO
THE SURFACE NEAR THE COAST OF SOUTH
AMERICA.

SOMETIMES CALLED EL VIEJO,
ANTI-EL NIÑO, OR SIMPLY "A

EL
NIÑO IS ALENGTHY WARMING
IN THE EASTERN PART OF THE
PACIFIC OCEAN. THIS
NATURAL PHENOMENON
OCCURS AT IRREGULAR
INTERVALS OF TWO TO SEVEN
YEARS AND LASTS FOR NINE
MONTHS OR TWO YEARS AT
MOST.

SOUTH AMERICAN FISHERMEN FIRST
NOTICED PERIODS OF UNUSUALLY WARM
WATER IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN IN THE
1600S. THE FULL NAME THEY USED WAS EL
NIÑO DE NAVIDAD, BECAUSE EL NIÑO
TYPICALLY PEAKS AROUND DECEMBER.

#2 Checking of Attendance
Attendance checker kindly check the attendance for today. Write the names of your classmate who’s absent today and give it to me after our class.
#3 Let me just set some rules class for today’s discussion with the Word “Pretty”, where in it stands for
Can someone from the class give a brief summary of our last topic?
#4 Do you want to play Class
Ok, I have prepared an activity.
Was the instruction clear to you, Class?
Ok, bring out your phones.”
#10 Greenhouse effect is a natural process by which certain gases in Earth’s atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor, traps heat from the sun, preventing if from escaping into space and keeping the planet warm enough to sustain life. However, human activities have amplified these natural processes by releasing excessive greenhouse gases.
#12 Exactly class! These human activities enhanced greenhouse effect and has led to global warming, resulting in rising temperatures and etc.
#13 TRIVIA
Aside from the mentioned greenhouse gases, what else are the other gases that are not mentioned?
#15 (The teacher plays again a short video clip for further explanation)
#16 -What does the video tell us about global warming class?
#17 In continuation, what do you think would be an effect of global warming?
- One possible effect of global warming Ma’am is the melting of ice caps and glaciers.
#19 - Aside from the melting of the glaciers class, what else?
#20 Based on the video, what do you think might have cause the LA wildfire?
#21 For the definition of climate change, I need 3 volunteers to arrange the jumbled words.
#25 This event is
triggered by the cooling of
the eastern part of the
Pacific Ocean.
Trade winds
that move from east to west
are strengthened.
Moving air brings along too much water vapor. Areas that experienced severe
drought which was caused by El Niño may encounter above normal rainfall. But in
some cases, areas that experience dry season will be drier than normal conditions.
La Niña’s effects are the opposite of El Niño.
#28 El
Niño is a lengthy warming
in the eastern part of the
Pacific Ocean. This
natural phenomenon
occurs at irregular
intervals of two to seven
years and lasts for nine
months or two years at
most.
#29 Normally, as trade wind moves from east to west, it collects warm air. But
when trade winds is weakened, it causes the piling up of warm surface water and
making the part of the Pacific Ocean warmer leading to El Niño phenomenon. This
happens when the upwelling of colder water is blocked by the large quantities of
warm surface water. El Niño will most likely bring severe drought. It is believed that
it causes stronger thunderstorm disturbance and massive storms. It also causes the
decrease of the population of some species.
#31 BRING YOUR PHONES OUT THEN TRY TO SEARCH HOW THIS FACORS AFFECTS OUR GLOBAL PHENOMENA
#32 Bring you cellphones out the try to research on the factors that influences global climatic.
Ok class, who would like to share his/her findings?
#34 Listen Class, if you find one of the gems hold it still, until I let you unveil it to your classmate.
Did I make myself clear Hunters?
Ok, then let’s begin the treasure hunting!
#35 To conclude our lesson for today, we’ve learned that human actions, are accelerating the greenhouse effect causing global warming and climate change. As a reflection for today topic, it is crucial that we take responsibility now to reduce the negative effects of this phenomena to protect the Earth for future generations.
