Salmonella outbreaks in 2008 demonstrate the need for legislation to improve food safety. Multiple outbreaks of Salmonella caused by contaminated foods show that pathogens can spread through the food system and make people sick. New laws are required to reduce disease from dangerous bacteria in our food.
