This document examines the tribological properties of aluminum-based metal matrix composites fabricated using sol-gel techniques and liquid metallurgy methods, particularly focusing on Al-4.2%Cu-Al2O3 composites. The study investigates various mechanical behaviors and wear characteristics under different conditions, highlighting how alumina content affects ductility and wear resistance. Results indicate a general improvement in wear rates with increased alumina content and provide an analysis of the materials' physical and mechanical properties through several testing methods.
