RECOMMENDATION:
 Creation of village health guide (VHG) or community health volunteers
from the community itself like teachers, postmasters, gram sevaks who
can provide comprehensive health services as paraprofessionals.
 Primary health care should be provided within the community itself
through specially trained workers so that the health is placed in the
hands of people themselves.
 Creation of MPW and health assistants (HA) in between the VHG and
medical officer at PHC.
 Reorient medical education in accordance with national needs and
priorties.
 Develop a curriculum for health assistants who were function as a link
between medical officers and MPWs.
Bajaj committee (1986)
 RECOMMENDATION:
 Creation of bonds of paraprofessional and semiprofessional health
workers from within the community itself.
 Establishment of 3 cadres of heath workers namely- multipurpose heath
workers and health assistants between the community level workers and
doctors at PHC.
 Development of “ referral services complex”
 Establishment of medical and health education commission for planning
and implementing the reforms in health and medical education on the
lines university grants commission.
 Educational commission for health services should be developed on the
lines of UGC.
 Recommended for national and medical education policy in which
teachers are trained in health education science technology.
