I read and signed a code of conduct form- this helped me to understand the guidelines set by
college of how to correctly use the facilities of the media department and how to behave in
                                    certain circumstances.

                                                  The form gives information about:

                                                           Using equipment

                                                    Assistance from technical team

                                                             Safety off site

                                                      How to manage equipment

                                                          Acting responsibly
Before heading out to film our teaser trailer the group filled out a risk
assessment table. The table is used to overview any potential dangers or
hazards we may face on location, and how to prevent them to make filming for
the crew and the public as safe as possible.
What to assess:
The potential risk : Are you putting yourself or others in potential danger? If so how can you pre - plan your
activity to minimise risk?

How likely is it? : Before going to film on location or beginning you journey there consider taking supervision.
A good tip is to do a recce ( visit your location to familiarise your surroundings.)

Precautions to take : Think about the potential health and safety hazards , are surfaces safe to film on? Could
your scenes be dangerous for the cast?

Location: Do you have safe methods of transport to get there? Do you know the area well ? Do the public
know you will be filming?

Personal safety: Ensure your cast and crew are wearing correct gear for the conditions. E.g a chase scene may
require sturdy shoes. Co-operate with your team in a positive way , some constructive criticism may benefit
somebody's safety !

Public safety: A good tip is to inform local authorities e.g police or maybe schools/centres near by as your
scenes may be disturbing. Always tell someone where you plan to go and the times you will be there.

Weather conditions: Monitor the weather conditions. Filming may need to be postponed in certain
circumstances. E.g heavy rain may damage equipment. Always make sure you have the correct clothing and
provisions before you go to location – consult your group and make an inventory!

Equipment safety: Use private transport to carry your equipment , remember it is expensive and heavy!
Make sure you have had an equipment induction by the technical team before you film.
