Each person has hobbies and one of mine is to create
presentations :)
Some of my presentations on slideshare…
So, with more free time on my hands than usual,
during my summer vacations, I set out to create a
presentation about my favorite subject...
Coming to think of it, it's very easy to create a
presentation.
However it's really difficult to create a presentation
that will keep your audience engaged,
without making it yawn their jaws off
till the slides run out.
30 million presentations
are carried out every day
So let’s stop killing people
because of boring ppt
DEAD BY POWERPOINT
LET’S create REEAAALLY
REALLY GOOD
PRESENTATIONS!

PRESENTING IS
NOT AN
OPTIONAL EXTRA
FOR A FEW!
IT’S A CORE
SKILL
SO, LET’S SEE
tips to improve audience engagement with

1. Plan your Presentation

4. Differentiation is Everything
5. Keep audience at the edge of their seats

NOT A VERY GOOD SLIDE!!
DON’T USE INDEX ON YOUR
PRESENTATIONS
1Plan your presentation
beforehand
1
Plan your presentation
beforehand
Think about what point you want to make before you start dumping
information intoa PowerPoint file uncontrollably. It's better to create a
word file withwhatever you want to say, divide your presentation in sections
and then get started.
This will certainly keep things tothe point, while simultaneously saving you a
bit of effort later on.

SOLUTION

2Kill bullet points
2Try to create slides withsmall amounts of text, as listeners are generally not
inclined tofollow a massive presentation and learn it by heart.
However, they will easily remember quotes or short sentences.
Kill bullet points
BULLETPOINTS
ARE FOR
SUPER MARKET
LISTS
33Use photos
3No photos from Google though. Either buy stock photos or use freely
provided ones in good quality. A nice picture always gives a bit of extra
flair to any presentation. However, donot forget that in case that you do
use free photos you have to give credit to their creator.
As the saying goes, a picture = 1000 words!
Use photos

4Differentiation
is everything
4You surely have seen lots of presentations adorned withamazing
pictures.Nonetheless, this doesn't necessarily mean that all of them
are good, or that they can keep the audience engaged in the very
least.
This is mainly because eachpresentation must come witha story and
the proper structure.
Think about jokes for example. Each joke has a very specific structure
that helps expand the storyline.
Differentiation
is everything
PLAY WITH COLOURS

Keep your audience
at the edge
of their seats
5Try to structure your presentation in a way that will keep your audience
engaged from the beginning till the end.Start by presenting the main
subject of your presentation, analyseit and expand it gradually. Don’t
give everything away at once. Try to keep some of the best bits for the
end.
Keep your audience at
the edge of their seats
6 Less is more
6You only have 10-30 minutes, so you don’t have to say much. Just say
the things that matter.Donot include too many slides in your
presentation and donot, by any means, use bullet points! Just use rule
1:7:140.
Less is more

7 Rehearse it
7No matter how well you thinkyou know your presentation, rehearsing it
will help you put things in the right order and get confident. It is
imperative that you learn at least the main points by heart.Try not to
leave it last minute if you want to make the impression you intended to
make from the beginning.
REHEARSE IT

Use examples
and
show some stats

8Always try to use examples. It's much easier for your audience to
understand what you want to say through a well placed example and
properly presented statisticaldata, than through tons of theory. In case
that you are presenting case studies from previous projects, try to pick
the ones you know you can explain and analyse best.
USE EXAMPLES AND
SHOW SOME STATS
9Start strong
GOLDFISH HAVE A LONGER
ATTENTION SPAN THAN

10Look into the eyes
of your audience
10Visit the venue earlier than the time of your presentation and get
comfortable withthe space.
In case that you’re presenting in a conference, attend all the previous
presentations, soas tounderstand the type of audience you will be
presenting toand how it reacts.
LOOK INTO THE EYES
OF YOUR AUDIENCE
Lastly,
get on stage
and
Rock!
