• Proofread
• Use consistent formatting
• Use correct tenses
• Use a professional email address
• Tailor your resume to specific jobs; use language /
key words directly from job description in
EDUCATION or EXPERIENCE
• Use 1/2" to 1" margins; Use 10 - 12 pt font; choose
a professional font
• Highlight your skills and experience using short and
succinct sentences
• Keep your resume current
• Save as a PDF if sending via email
•Use a .doc or .txt format if submitting through an
ATS
• Make sure your name is on the 2nd page if you
have a 2nd page
DONT’S
• Use personal pronouns
• Use fancy, hard-to-read fonts
• Include pictures, tables or graphics
• Use a template
• Exaggerate or falsify information
• Include anything personal
