It is the fixed oil obtained by cold expression method
from ripe seeds of the plant Taraktogenous kurzzi
king and Hydnocarpus anthelmintic Pierre and other
species of Hydnocarpus, family Flacourtiaceae
Geographical source
๏ฑNative of Myanmar, Thailand and East
India.
๏ฑAlso found in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
๏ฑIndia โ€“ Assam and Tripura.
Method of Preparation
๏ƒผSeeds โ€“ decorticated by machine
๏ƒผKernels โ€“ pressed with hydraulic
press.
๏ƒผOil obtained is filtered.
Description
๏ƒ˜ Colour โ€“ yellow to brownish yellow coloured
liquid.
๏ƒ˜ Odour โ€“ characteristic
๏ƒ˜ Taste โ€“ somewhat acrid
๏ƒ˜ Slightly soluble โ€“ alcohol
๏ƒ˜ Soluble โ€“ chloroform, ether, benzene, carbon
disulphide.
