  Mind Maps/Brainstorms Star byusing the first few slides to create mind maps and or brainstorms for ideas related to your project. Get as many possibilities as you can. Don’t worry about practicality, suitability or potential at this stage. You will assess the ideas later.

  Idea Evaluation Which ofyour ideas do you want to develop further? Explain why you think that is the right idea to take forward. I am going to be developing all my ideas. The reasoning for this is because my client had sent me a list of stuff they would like me to create for them, so instead of coming up with extra ideas, it was easier to start expanding existing ideas.

  Development • Development shouldinclude mood boards or other visual examples of work. It could include basic mock ups of your vision for the project using the work of others. • These don’t need to be the same quality as your finished pieces but they a good indicator of where your project is going. • As this is not final work, it may include work from others. • You could include test work or practice work here too to further develop your skills.

  Developed Idea 1 Moodboard: Logo

  Developed Idea 1 Moodboard: analysis For my mood board, I have collected some images that represent the ideas from my brainstorm/mind map. The first images I collected were images of colour palettes. I selected these because I need some inspiration of colour schemes. The palettes I chose are all colour schemes that interest me as a creator because they will work with most themes such as minimalist and modern. The second type of images I collected for this mood board was the modern building styles. I plan to gain inspiration from the shapes and colours of these buildings as I believe it would be effective to most audiences. I have also collected some images of existing logos or logo ideas. These logo types are quite generic but they work well and there are a lot of variations that you can create using this type of technique. I will probably go with this style of design because I like the way it appeals to an audience. The final set of images I collected are abstract style designs. I am planning to blend these with the modern style design to create something that looks different but also visually attractive.

  Developed Idea 1 Images- logo I have picked these images to show the abstract design idea. The colours in the first picture work well together and look modern or new. This style would work well with the logo because it looks fresh. The client wants me to create a logo for a fresh start on a company so the logo would have meaning. The second image represents the fade/gradient idea I came up with. The company will be called “Impact Consultancy Ltd” and I think that a gradient effect would create a good first impact on the audience. The third image shows how more than one shade of a colour can be used together effectively. I think that the abstract idea would be a good idea because it looks visually good and it can represent the name of the company well. I have collected some images for a minimalist design. After collecting these images, I do not believe they represent the work “Impact” very well. They look too basic and don’t look like a lot of effort goes into them. If I did go with this theme, I would definitely have back ups of different themes such as abstract because sticking with one theme is risky, but sticking with one theme that doesn’t effect an audience would waste production time. Another negative point about this minimalist design is that they lack colour. They are generally quite black and white. This goes against all my planning so I would just be making a logo from scratch.

  Developed Idea 1 Images- logo A logo style with straight edges appeals to me as a producer because it is easy to work with and it looks very effective. Much like the minimalist style, I don’t think it has a very good initial impact on the audience as it may appear quite dull. The images I have chosen are existing logos that use straight edges and box shapes to create a logo. The Adidas logo is obviously very well known so it will be effective to anyone. I think that if I create something similar to this, I don’t think it will be as effective, because there is no recognition like people would recognise an existing logo. The modern logo style is also very effective. I think that this style is one of the best styles to use for a logo because nearly all colour combinations work well in this opacity and colour style. The colours used are often quite bright so the audience could be immediately attracted to this logo. My audience is mainly schools and headteachers and some schools have this type of logo. I think this logo would be fitting with my audience.

  Developed Idea 1 Colours- logo This warm colour palette is very attractive and I think it would work well as a gradient, especially as the abstract theme. I have the idea of changing the opacity of these colours as I can picture it looking inviting to an audience. These colours are inviting because they remind the audience of a warm fire. This helps the audience to feel safe and secure and makes the brand feel like they are needed in their life. I brainstormed to use bright colours on my mind maps because they immediately stand out to most audiences. I think that these colours can be quite unattractive if they aren’t used correctly. For example, if bright green is used alongside brown, it doesn’t look very appealing at all. I think that I could use a bright colour to outline something or as an extra feature on the logo to help it give that extra bit of appeal. I have chosen this gradient palette to gain inspiration from. I will obviously experiment with different gradients in production as I may not like the one I plan to use. A gradient effect looks calm, especially if cold colours are used such as light blue to dark blue, because it looks like the sea. This helps the audience to picture calming ocean sounds and makes them feel comfortable with the brand. These shades of red look effective as a gradient but also look stylish by themselves. Red is one of the most commonly used colours in branding because it stands out. I will definitely include red within my branding for the client. Red represents passion and energy, something which the client shows towards clients.

  Developed Idea 1 Colours- logo The client would like to involve the colours blue and purple. This is due to the fact that the two previous consultancy's had a blue logo and a purple logo. As the new consultancy is these two consultancy's together, the client wants me to find a way of including these two colours.

  Developed Idea 1 Fonts- logo This first font has a stylish look to it. It would work well with the colours I have selected. The curvy edges and stencil effect make it look modern. This font is free for commercial use as well which is a big part of choosing the correct font. This font is simple but I think I can definitely make something of it within Photoshop. If it doesn’t work well as the logo its self, I can use it for the strapline. This font is also free for commercial use. I think this font would work better for the strapline because of its simplicity, it doesn’t stand out as a logo font but would work once people are drawn in by the logo. This font is similar to the stencil font but it is more simplistic. The line that cuts through the font is a really interesting design feature because it shows two parts to one thing. For example, the two parts could represent the client and producer and how they come together to form one greater piece of work. I have selected this font because I like the way it flows. I have tested this font and typed out the name of the brand. I think that it works well by its self but could definitely be improved using Photoshop techniques. I think this would be the font that I am least likely to choose from because it looks the least professional and doesn’t represent the brand as well as the other fonts.

  Developed Idea 2 Colours– business card It makes sense for me to use these colours in the logo more than the business card but I could always have a blue and purple border or pattern somewhere on the card. The colour white is always effective when used for anything. This will be more of a backup colour to use if my other ideas/experiments/plans don’t work. This colour represents innocence and purity. These themes don’t represent the brand too well. I think a dark green would be a good colour to use somewhere on the business card. I think a colour similar to this would work well as a border as it would contrast with the bright colours. On the other hand this colour shouldn’t be used as a main theme on the card because it doesn’t really fit too well with the logo colours. Black is one of the best colours to use in designing in my opinion because it works well with nearly every colour as an outline, underline, border or just as a solid colour. It helps to make words and shapes stand out which gives that extra bit of clarity to anyone who sees it.

  Developed Idea 2 Fonts– Business cards If I use this font for my logo then I will definitely have to include it on the business cards. As I have previously stated, this font would well as a strapline font so I will have to include this somewhere on a business card as well. I like this font because it has a professional tone to it whilst being clear to read and also looking attractive. The straight edges on the curved edges make the font look serious so the audience will know that the business is professional. Although this is similar to the font above, this font is more bold and more obvious. The mix of thick and thin lines creates a font that is aesthetic and also effective.

  Assessment of finalideas Suitability for audience: I think that my audience will definitely engage with my ideas because it puts my ideas from text into images. It also shows potential of what I could create. Suitability for client: My ideas do fulfil what my client has set me. The only problem is the colour palette but I will design this during production to show what works well. Timescales: My project is very easy to manage as I only have 3 things to create. There is 4 weeks of production so it gives me a week to create each product and then an extra week to improve.

  Production Schedule: You shouldprepare a production schedule that will allow you to manage your time over the 4 weeks of production. This should include: • Deadlines: Interim deadlines help you keep on track, final deadlines are final. • Availability: The availability of the client and any other people you may need to help you with your project. You will need to contact them. You might to do visit. You may need to liaise with models, or photographers. • Feedback: This is a working brief with a real client. You will need to get feedback on your work and also allow yourself time to make appropriate changes. Plan appropriate time in to you schedule so that you can do this. • Resources: You should include a list of resources that you will need to complete your project. Remember that this all needs to be your own work
