The importance of integrating
Smart Phones and Tablets in
Classrooms

Overview of the Strategy
• “Technology is important in classrooms today
, especially for young children. Tablets can help
both teachers and students when there is a
language barrier. They also can be used to help
teach children. Schools are resistant to adding
technology to classrooms. Although,
classrooms are using technology more often. A
lot of classrooms incorporate the use of tablets,
computers, iPad, and smart boards in
classrooms.

According to Courtney Blackwell (2014),
Tablet computers, specifically, can be used
anywhere/anytime and foster individualized
learning, such as teachers can be used as
tools for scaffolding student learning.” I have
tons of children's games both on my tablet
and on my smart phone. My daughter has
been learning different colors, shapes, and
how to count using different apps on both.
They both can be great learning tools for
children especially at such a young age.
Teachers are saying that, electronic devices
motivated children to want to learn more
than typical classroom studies. Even studying
the exact same subject students where more
excited and motivated learning using
technology rather than learning through text
books. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA
• “Appropriate technology is integrated into the regular
environment and used as one of the many options to
support children’s learning.” (Technology and Young
Children; N.D.)
• Technology is interesting to children. They see
everyone using different types of technology, example
smart phones, tablets, computers, and lap tops
learning, and the different things that they can do on
them. “Developmental software engages children in
creative play, mastery learning , problem solving, and
conversation.” (Technology and Young Children; N.D.)

Children are better and faster at figuring out
technology than adults. Allowing children to
use technology is helping them use their “fluid
thinking-children exploring an unlikely
hypothesis.” (Preschoolers Outsmart, 2014).
There are so many things that children can
learn using the technology available today.
Studies have shown that technology is still
underused in education today.
Analysis
All of the articles I have read agree that technology needs to be utilized in
classrooms. They offer significant advantages to helping educate children
in classrooms today. Children are like sponges they pick up on everything.
All the different pictures and noises that tablets and such use are
extremely interesting to children. They make children want to learn.
Teachers can teach the same thing using technology versus using text
books. Studies have shown that using text books make the child eager to
learn.
Connections
All the information I have gathered seems to show that all the evidence says
that there is more benefits than downfalls to using technologies in education
today. Tablets and other technological devices enhance the learning
environment and help encourage children to want to learn and to want to
explore. It also gives children the knowledge how to succeed in todays
technological advanced world. It is important aspects in most adults life so
why not teach children a young age, plus there are so many apps that can
help children why not take advantage of that?

Conclusions
• I think that it is important to
uses tablet and other technology
in school. Tablets help children
build their fluid intelligence,
helps them to develop their fine
motor skills, and also helps them
to build their problem solving
skills. Children learn faster how
to use technological devices.
According to the article,
technology and Young Children,
• Using tablets in education
allows children to find new
challenges. They can repeat the
same activity helping them to

Communication with
Families
“ Technology in classrooms helps children become more excited about
learning. Rather than just sitting at a desk and studying all day children get to
play games and do interactive activities to help them learn. Tablets are also
beneficially with helping students with language barriers and students who
learn at different paces. Tablets and other technology help children learn to
develop their creative play, mastery learning, problem solving, and
conversation skills. It is my opinion that allowing children to use technology
can greatly benefit their learning experience.”
